WASHINGTON, DC: Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance revealed that he asked his 7-year-old son to "shut the hell up" while he was having an important phone call with former president Donald Trump.

Notably, Trump nominated Vance as his running mate in July for the presidential election scheduled for November 2024. Since then, Vance has been under criticism by many Republicans and other politicians as well.



 

JD Vance shares how he asked his son to 'shut the hell up'

During an interview in the 'Full Send Podcast', JD Vance recounted his phone call with Donald Trump before the former president announced him as his running mate.

Vance said, "My son, who is seven, is in the hotel room with me. And he is really into Pokemon cards right now, he’s going through a Pokemon phase... I mean he’s really into it, so he is trying to talk to me about Pikachu and I am on the phone with Donald Trump, I’m like 'son, shut the hell up for 30 seconds about Pikachu'."

The Ohio senator recollected telling his son, "This is the most important phone call of my life, please just let me take this phone call."



 

Last month, Vance was under fire after his comments from 2021 resurfaced where he said women like Vice President Kamala Harris, who have not given birth, are "childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives".

During a 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson, Vance stated that the United States was being led by "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they've made, and therefore want to spread their misery across the country".

Internet skewers JD Vance for how he treated his son

Several social media users took jibes at JD Vance for his parenting approach as he revealed that he asked his 7-year-old son to "shut the hell up" while he was having an important phone call with Donald Trump.

A user wrote on X, "It’s even more embarrassing that he thinks this is a flex.

Another added, "Vance should have had cats not children."



 



 

A person also stated, "Isn't his son like 8 years old? First he's shaming his daughter for drinking chocolate milk, now he's telling his son to "shut the hell up" JD Vance is a weird a**hole."

Another remarked, "I can't decide which is weirder—that he spoke like that to his son, or that he chose to brag about it on camera. Probably the latter."



 



 

A user also said, "The fact that he thinks this is a great anecdotal story to tell says everything I need to know about him."

Another said, "Tells us all we need to know about how he treats his own kids. Imagine how much worse it is for people who aren't."



 



 

A person commented, "This is his parenting style that he thought to brag about??" whereas one said, "He can't stand that his son is interested in a fictional character that isn't named 'JD Vance'.
