WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Mark Kelly (D-Arizona) labeled Donald Trump "desperate" and called him a "scared old man" after the former president attacked Vice President Kamala Harris’ heritage at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention on Wednesday, July 31.

The ex-POTUS questioned Harris' African American and Indian American heritage during an intense interview at the NABJ annual meeting in Chicago, The Hill reported.

Mark Kelly informed reporters on Wednesday, "I think those are the comments of a desperate, scared old man, who, over the last week especially, has been having his butt kicked by an experienced prosecutor, and I think he’s worried. And she’s going to continue to do this, and she’s going to win the election in November, and she’s going to be our next president."

Criticizing Trump's comments, Kelly said, "These are not unexpected from him. We’ve seen this over, you know, since when? 2015 or so. So he’s done this before. He’s not going to change. Pretty obvious to me, why, why he’s doing this."

When asked whether he thinks Trump’s comments were rooted in racism, Kelly replied, "Yeah, sure. It’s who the guy is, and he’s always been like this."

While slamming Trump for his old age, Kelly added, "I grew up in New Jersey originally. When I was in high school, he was a New Yorker business guy. Now he’s a New Yorker old business guy, and he was like this when I used to see him in the news in the 1980s and he’s still the same today, He’s not going to change."

During the interview, Trump said about Harris, "She was always of Indian heritage. And she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black. And now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian, or is she Black?"

He further added, "But you know what, I respect either one. But she obviously doesn’t. Because she was Indian all the way then, all of a sudden, she made a turn. And she became a Black person. And I think somebody should look into that."

One person stated, "This beyond atrocious, but keep him talking," whereas another questioned, "Did he even know what DEI means?"

One individual remarked, "He is CRASHING beautifully. This is great b/c he isn’t in a MAGA bubble right now" while one commented, "Not going well for Trump at all whatsoever. I’m so glad to see the interviewer nailing him to the wall. He has nothing of substance to contribute."

One person noted, "It is the job of all decent white people to call out this kind of racism every single time it happens," whereas one added, "OMG The racist emperor has got no clothes & everyone can see it!"
