HARDIN COUNTY, TENNESSEE: A Hardin County couple was indicted by a Tennessee grand jury after their 3-year-old grandson died in late 2023. Three-year-old Carson Brasher's body was found on December 26, 2023 at their home.

According to the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Jeff and Amy Brasher were taken into custody on March 29. While Jeff Brasher was only charged with child abuse and neglect, Amy Brasher was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and child abuse as well.

Carson Brasher's mother was away for treatment when he died

Carson's grandparents were granted custody of the boy in October 2023 while his mother, Kimberly Jones, was undergoing treatment.

The day after Christmas, according to court documents, Carson was discovered unconscious.

According to the indictment, Amy Brasher killed the boy on purpose and mistreated him, and her husband took no action to protect his grandson, Crime Online reported.

In an interview with a news outlet, Carson's mother discussed how she wanted her son to be remembered while she pursues justice. Jones started crying and said, "He was happy; he was outgoing; he was joyful; he was bright; he was rambunctious."

Carson was Jones' only son. “If you met him you would have fell in love with him. He changed a lot of people’s lives in the short amount of time that he was here, that we was blessed with him,” she further said, as reported by WKRN.

“He was just waiting for me to come home,” she cried.

Kimberly Jones fights for justice

Jones claimed that she was told that when Carson was under Amy's care, he fell in the bathtub and struck his head. “It’s just hard to talk about it really. Honestly,” Jones said.

Jones met with investigators on Friday, April 5, in order to get further information about her son's incident. “Knowing I’ve got to sit down and I’ve got to relive everything that my baby went through, what she did to my son is not at all fair,” Jones sobbed.

She said that the community's prayers are requested as they embark on a journey towards justice.

“I just wanted everybody to know that he was loved and he was missed and this could happen in anybody’s town and anybody’s family,” Jones remarked.

To help pay for his headstone, Jones' family is selling "Carson Strong" t-shirts and bracelets.
