Jeffrey Kendall: California neighborhood 'shaken up' as man kills ex-girlfriend after breaking into her house
SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA: The California Highway Patrol arrested a suspect accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child in Pinole.
As per reports, police received a report around 8.45 am on Friday, February 16 of 'someone' breaking into a house in the 500 block of Summit Drive and fatally shooting a woman.
The man identified as Jeffrey Kendall was arrested in Santa Cruz on February 16 at around 11.40 pm, Fox 2 San Francisco reports. Kendall was charged with homicide and domestic violence.
What did Jeffrey Kendall do?
On Friday, February 15 morning, authorities found the suspect's ex-girlfriend (whose name has not been identified) shot dead in her Pinole home. Kendall had shared a child with the woman.
Cops said that the suspect broke into the victim's home and attacked her. A neighbor who lives nearby expressed his worries about the incident. "It’s incredibly startling and unnerving, so everyone here is really, really shaken up," a neighbor said.
Police even said said that Kendall is "associated with the house," and was seen on video leaving the area in a car.
Additionally, Kendall's vehicle was seized after he was apprehended by the police. California Highway Patrol announced his arrest on Saturday, February 17.
Pinole PD to continue investigation
The authorities wrote on Saturday, "The CHP (California Highway Patrol) Santa Cruz Area Office commends the swift and decisive actions of our officers in apprehending a dangerous suspect and ensuring the safety of the community."
Pinole Police Department also released a statement about the incident. "We want to thank all the citizens, media partners, and law enforcement partners, especially the California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz Office, who assisted in locating Jeffrey Kendall," the Pinole Police Department said in a release.
Other details about the child and the incident are yet to be investigated. "Anyone with information about this case is urged to call 510-724-1111," the statement added.
Kendall was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and is being held on bail of $1,100,000.
