HOUSTON, TEXAS: A Texas attorney was fatally shot by an enraged McDonald's customer as he attempted to calm him down and asked him to stop shouting at the staff regarding his order. 

The attorney, identified as Jeffrey Limmer, was later hailed as a 'good Samaritan' as per DailyMail.

The tragic incident took place on Saturday, May 4, around 6 pm, at a McDonald's branch in Houston. The shooter is yet to be identified or arrested.

What happened to Jeffrey Limmer?

The Houston Police Department received reports of a shooting incident at 8147 Katy Freeway around 6 pm on Saturday.

According to detectives, a customer at McDonald's became enraged over his order and began shouting at employees. Limmer intervened and pushed the angry customer to the ground. 

Subsequently, the man retrieved a gun from his car, shot Limmer twice, and fled the scene in an early 2000s tan blue Ford pickup truck.

Following the altercation, Limmer returned to McDonald's, where staff promptly contacted paramedics.

Jeffrey Limmer resided near the McDonald’s and frequented the establishment regularly. He served as an attorney at the local law firm, Lewis Brisbois, after attending the University of Texas and later graduating from South Texas College of Law.

According to Limmer's sister, Jennifer Thomas, Limmer visited McDonald’s on Saturday evening to do some work. She mentioned that throughout his career, he had always endeavored to assist others, so she wasn't surprised to learn that he had intervened to help the employees. 

"Knowing Jeff, he's the one who always says, 'Calm down. It's not that big of a deal,' and divert the situation," she remarked. 

"'He's always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing." 

She described him as a "good Samaritan who is trying to do the right thing and not letting those employees at McDonalds go through that."

His friend, Greg Monteverde, shared, "Utilizing cuss words and other profanities, Jeff stepped in to try and de-escalate the situation try and calm him down. I thought it was brave. I respect it. I think a lot of us knew Jeff to be that type of individual. In school, he would invite somebody who wasn't the most popular student to a party or things like that." 

He added, "He's in Heaven. He's looking down on all of us, saying it's going to be OK."

Internet conveys deepest condolences to Jeffrey Limmer's family

After discovering that the fatal shooting involving the lawyer and the McDonald's customer, numerous internet users expressed their viewpoints, according to DailyMail.

One user said, “Such a handsome man. A complete tragedy as he loses his life doing the right thing. My deepest condolences to his family.”

Another added, “That's the problem with open carry states. It's like the wild wild west. People killing people with guns for the most trivial reasons.”

The third added, “he got shot because AFTER the verbal argument he and the suspect got into a physical altercation. he shouldn't have fought a mad customer at mcdonalds”.

The fourth user claimed, “This is why people don't help others any more sadly”.

The last wrote, “Tragic. The shooter is obviously deranged and has probably done this kind of thing before.”
