The Lisle Police Department responded to an address on Matson Lane following a reported suicide attempt involving Jennifer Kouchousa in November.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders encountered an alarming case, as described in the report by DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin.

Upon initial inspection, one of the children was discovered seated in a bathroom, covered in blood, while the other child was found nearby on the kitchen floor, also covered in blood.

Additionally, police observed Kouchoukos in the same bathroom, wearing blood-soaked clothing and standing near the vanity. She exhibited no responsiveness to commands or questions from the police.

Both the injured children and Kouchoukos were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Due to the severity of their injuries, the children were later transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

During the investigation, prosecutors alleged, "While Kouchoukos was babysitting the children, she stabbed both children multiple times in their back and chest areas."

Furthermore, they stated, "Upon processing the scene, authorities discovered multiple knives stained with what appeared to be blood, along with an empty bottle of wine and a nearly empty bottle of rum."
