Jennings blasts Talarico over CBS ‘censorship’ clash as Texas Senate race intensifies
ATLANTA, GEORGIA: CNN panel erupts after Scott Jennings calls James Talarico's CBS censorship claim a 'total hoax' after the Texas Democrat clinched his party’s Senate nomination nod against GOP heavyweights.
After James Talarico secured the Democratic position in the escalating Texas Senate race, a dispute involving CBS has spilled into the national political debate once again.
The controversy centers on CBS's decision to block or pull a segment of 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' featuring Talarico amid internal legal concerns tied to an FCC-related review.
Scott Jennings just absolutely TORCHED Texas State Rep. James Talarico for running a FAKE censorship hoax to supercharge his Senate campaign: “Let's just admit it was an op, right? I mean, Trump had nothing to do with it. It was CBS's lawyers that had raised internal issues. It… pic.twitter.com/Nme1KS9DvI

Scott Jennings rejects 'censorship' narrative
On CNN, Jennings argued the CBS decision stemmed from the network’s own legal team and not political interference.
“Let's just admit it was an op, right? I mean, Trump had nothing to do with it. It was CBS's lawyers that had raised internal issues. It was a total sort of a hoax about how they positioned it.”
His comments pushed back on claims that Talarico had been silenced for political reasons.
Instead, Jennings highlighted the episode as campaign messaging designed to energize supporters and draw national attention following Talarico’s Senate breakthrough.
Other panelists on the CNN segment broadly agreed that the situation appeared to be an internal corporate decision rather than a coordinated political effort.
Jennings suggested the CBS episode revealed strategic calculations within Democratic ranks, particularly regarding who Republicans would prefer to face in a general election.
“It showed where the Democratic establishment is on it. They don't want Crockett. I think the Republicans would love to run against Jasmine Crockett because she's easier to paint as a radical. But it kind of showed you where the power brokers and the Democrats are.”
Referencing Rep Jasmine Crockett, Jennings added, “I still think Talarico’s an extremist. But Crockett is easier to paint as a radical. I think that's become clear.”
There appears to be a Streisand effect going on with the Talarico interview & Colbert.

CBS' censorship row helped Talarico?
The CBS controversy erupted after the network blocked a segment featuring Talarico amid internal legal concerns tied to FCC sensitivities, prompting accusations online that the Democrat had been “silenced.”
Late-night host Stephen Colbert mocked CBS over the move, amplifying the backlash and framing it as corporate overcaution.
Stephen Colbert denounces the FCC for its equal time policy, "And you know who is not one of my guests tonight? That's Texas State Representative James Talarico. He was supposed to be here. But we were told in no uncertain terms by our network's lawyers who called us directly… pic.twitter.com/vpw9DPXJLA

CBS issued a statement that claimed, 'The Late Show" was not prohibited from airing the Talarico interview.
It merely “provided legal guidance that the broadcast could trigger the FCC equal-time rule for two other candidates and presented options for how the equal time for other candidates could be fulfilled.”
Meanwhile, CNN data analyst Harry Enten noted that the uproar may have actually boosted Talarico’s visibility, suggesting the controversy gave his Senate campaign added momentum rather than causing harm.
