NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Jesse Watters has criticized Judge Juan Merchan for issuing a gag order on former President Donald Trump, alleging that the judge's actions were unfair and unconstitutional.

He also expressed concern over the limitations placed on Trump's speech, particularly in light of alleged payments made to Merchan's daughter by the Biden campaign and Adam Schiff

In Watters' words, "The daughter's been paid by the Biden campaign, being paid by Adam Schiff who colluded with star witness, Michael Cohen, & Trump can't talk about it. Cohen can say whatever he wants but Trump is gagged."

He continued, "They are threatening to throw the Republican nominee for president in jail for talking during an election. It's not fair, it's unconstitutional and it goes against everything this country stands for."

According to CBS News, Judge Merchan found that Trump breached the gag order nine times recently through posts on his Truth Social platform and campaign website, particularly targeting key witnesses like Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels.

Consequently, Judge Merchan imposed a fine of $9,000, equating to $1,000 for each violation, and mandated Trump to remove the posts.

By the afternoon of April 30, all nine offending posts were removed.

The judge announced his decision from the bench and issued a written order, stating that Trump's actions violated the order by publicly discussing witnesses' involvement in the case and making statements about jurors involved in the criminal proceedings.

He concluded with a warning to Trump, saying, "Defendant is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate continued willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, it will impose an incarceratory punishment."

Internet outrages over Jesse Watters' critique

The internet slammed Jesse Watters for his take on the hush money trial and the judge overseeing it.

One X user wrote, "Jesse the clown!".

Another said, "The lying fox people are at it again."

One more person said, "Get back to us when Watters becomes a journalist and Fox is a source of news."

Another viewer noted, "Waters appears to be the chief shock jock & liar to replace Tucker Carlson. Apparently the owners of Fox learned nothing from the 3/4 billion $ civil penalty they had to pay Dominion Voting Systems. We also shouldn’t forget an even larger lawsuit by another voting machine firm."

One more viewer asked, "Can not wait for the day that Watters and Fox are sued for disseminating false information!!"

One comment read, "Isn’t it time he’s fired for lying?"

Another comment read, "Jesse Waters has zero evidence that any of what he has said is true, and also ignored the fact that Trump did this to himself."
