BRONX, NEW YORK: A 46-year-old Bronx man died after a violent brawl near his apartment. The fight reportedly started over beef with his building superintendent and two of his pals, the New York Post reports.

Jesus Garcia allegedly had an altercation with the superintendent and others following a night of drinking at the Excelente Gil Cafeteria Restaurant in Soundview on Saturday, February 17 morning, the building caretaker told police.

How did Jesus Garcia die?

Violence erupted when the two friends of the superintendent started to fight Garcia, by knocking him to the ground and repeatedly punching him in the head.

Garcia suffered brain damage and a fractured jaw from the violent tussle. Soon after, he was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was fought for his life for three days but succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, February 20. NYPD has made no arrests so far.

"I’m constantly crying,” the victim’s devastated wife, Tamisha Velasquez told NY Daily News. "I can’t control my emotions. I’m always thinking about him," she added.

Velasquez's wife Tamisha says cops informed her as many as five people may have been involved in the attack. When she arrived at the hospital, her husband was already on life support.

"The first day that we got there, Saturday, they said he does not look good,” said Velasquez, who works as a nurse. “They kept insisting but I was like, ‘I want him to get all the medications that he needs to come out of this.’ You can see I was in denial. I wasn’t accepting what was going on.”

She added, "He did have some gag reflex but then afterwards he didn’t have one, which means that he is brain dead. He wasn’t gonna progress and they cannot keep him on the ventilator because he’s dead already, he’s brain dead.”

She tells that, Garcia who was father of two, loved animals. The family had two dogs and three cats. Garcia loved kittens and gave them home. She said, “He loves dogs and cats, He likes nature, all other animals. That’s why we have five pets in my home, because he wanted them.”

"The kittens, he saved them,” she added. “His friends were giving them out. They were the last kittens and no one wanted them. He felt really bad and he brought them home.”

"He was very, very detailed, which is why sometimes it would take longer but the outcome is always the best.,” she said. “His job is very strenuous on him,” she added.
