This year, the official White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room was difficult to see as the actual fir was obscured by a carousel of artificial animals.

Additionally, there was a maypole resembling a circus tent canopy draped from the top of the tree. In another room, multi-colored ribbons hung in place of the drapes over the windows, giving the impression of a funhouse entrance.

"It has been the honor of our lives to serve as your President and First Lady," in the commemorative guidebook for the 2024 White House decorations, the Bidens shared a joint statement. "Our hope is for the Nation to be blessed with the peace and light of the holiday season," the statement read.

Adopting a sentimental tone, they went on, "At the holidays, Americans come together every year in fellowship and faith, reminding us that we are stronger as a community than we are apart. The strength of our country, and the soul of our Nation, come from you."

Social media flooded with criticism of Jill Biden's 'circus-themed' Christmas decorations

As soon as the White House Christmas decoration pictures went viral, social media was inundated with criticism.

Abigail Jackson, the Communications Director for Senator Josh Hawley, expressed her disapproval on X (previously known as Twitter), describing the decorations as "circus-themed" in a post that rapidly gained attention, "White House Christmas decorations are Circus themed. How fitting."

Another user added, "Not Impressed with WH Christmas Decorations. It’s tacky."

A third commentator remarked, "Jill Biden’s Christmas decorations look like what would happen if a group of circus clowns projectile vomitted all over the White House, which I guess is the perfect metaphor to sum up the last four years."

"It’s actually very creepy," said a critic.

A person said, "This is what hell looks like. Not fire and brim stone, but a cacophony of clashing colors designed to make you lose your mind."

Another chimed in, "This is ugly. Such a lack of taste. Nothing in common with Melania."

One X user wrote, "Jill Biden really has zero taste. This is awful. The rainbow curtains have nothing to do with Christmas."
