Jill Biden rips 'so-called friends' who called her Lady McBiden, denies creating a 'cocoon' around Joe

WASHINGTON, DC: Jill Biden has spoken out against individuals she described as “so-called friends” who criticized her during President Joe Biden’s final months in office.
She responded to the backlash on Thursday, May 8, calling it "very hurtful" to be likened to 'Lady Macbeth' in political discussions.

Jill Biden denies creating a 'cocoon' around Joe during 2024 campaign
Jill Biden rejected accusations that she tried to shelter Joe Biden during the 2024 campaign.
“I did not create a cocoon around him,” Jill said on 'The View'. “I mean, you saw him in the Oval Office, you saw him making speeches. He wasn’t hiding somewhere, I didn’t have him, you know, sequestered in some place.”

She also addressed being referred to as 'Lady McBiden', a reference pushed by Nancy Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra Pelosi.
When 'The View' host asked if it was hurtful to be compared to 'Lady Macbeth', Jill replied, "Yes, yes, it was very hurtful, especially from some of our so-called friends."

What created the rift between the Bidens and the Pelosis?
The rift between the Bidens and the Pelosis has been building since Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign struggles, made worse after a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.

After declaring videos of a clearly cognitively-declined Joe Biden were “cheap fakes,” Democrats sent Biden into political combat with Trump as a stress-test.

Pelosi is said to have helped engineer the parliamentary coup on Biden to oust him from his re-election bid.
Pelosi also blamed Biden for the Democrats’ 2024 election loss, telling The New York Times last November, “Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race," adding, "If it had been much earlier, it would have been different.”

Alexandra Pelosi echoed those sentiments, telling Politico in January, “If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game and think about my husband’s legacy.”
She clarified she was only speaking for herself but added, “There aren’t that many people left in America who have something nice to say about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi is one of them.”
Jill, who was a strong advocate for her husband during the campaign, said the comments from people close to them hurt the most.
“We were friends for 50 years,” Jill Biden told The Washington Post in January, calling Nancy Pelosi’s remarks “disappointing”.
Joe Biden says Kamala Harris was most qualified but blames 2024 loss on ‘sexist route’
During the same segment on 'The View', co-host Sara Haines asked if the former first lady was “too close to the situation to objectively gauge whether he could handle a full four more years.”
Jill answered, “I was with Joe day and night. I saw him more than any other person. I woke up with him, I went to bed at night with him, so I saw him all throughout the day.”

President Biden also weighed in, joking that he “wished” Jill had sequestered him as some had claimed.
Whoopi Goldberg supported Jill Biden’s defense, adding, “The only people that were saying Biden’s mental acuity wasn’t there were people who peripherally are standing out here.”
He later addressed Kamala Harris’ defeat, saying, “Not because I didn’t think the vice president was the most qualified person to be president—she is. I wasn’t surprised because they went the route of the sexist route."

The former president said, "I’d never seen quite as successful and consistent a campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn’t lead the country—and, a woman of mixed race.”
