WASHINGTON, DC: Jim Acosta of CNN questioned Kamala Harris' campaign representative on Wednesday, August 14, about why the politician has refrained from holding a press conference. Acosta also posed the question, "Would it kill you guys?"

"I’m sure this is not going to be the first time you’ve heard this question, but the Trump campaign is also going after the vice president for not doing enough interviews and for not holding a press conference. Would it kill you guys to have a press conference? Why hasn't she had a press conference?" Acosta asked.

Since President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race and Harris' swift rise to the top, she has gone 24 days without participating in a formal interview or addressing a news conference.

Kamala Harris' campaign says she was 'busy'

Michael Tyler, the director of communications for Kamala Harris, chuckled and stated that she and her running mate, Tim Walz, had been "busy" touring the nation, mentioning several political events.

"Michael, you know a campaign really isn't really a press conference," Acosta pushed back. "Why hasn't she had a press conference? She's the vice president; she can handle the questions; why not do it?" he added.

Kamala Harris will be sitting for an interview this month

Michael Tyler assured him that Kamala Harris would definitely go ahead and that by the end of August, she will be sitting down for one interview.

"We will commit to directly engaging with the voters who are actually going to decide this election," Tyler responded, according to Fox News. "And that is going to be complete with rallies, with sit-down interviews, with press conferences, with all the digital assets that we have at our disposal," he added.

CNN's John Berman also pressed a Harris campaign spokeswoman

In response to questions from CNN's John Berman over Kamala Harris' absence of a media appearance on Tuesday, a spokesman for the campaign for Harris said that she did have "time" for an interview because her schedule for the day was open.

"The reason I was asking you about today is because it seems like she has time if she wants to do an interview with a member of the media or do a news conference, correct? There does appear to be that time, if she wanted," Berman said.

The campaign spokesperson for Harris, Adrienne Elrod, emphasized time and again that Harris and Walz were reaching out to people directly.

"She hit a number of battleground states. I think we had 15,000 people in Detroit last week, 12 to 13,000 in Nevada. She’s been taking her message to the voters and drawing large crowds. So she’s actually having those direct conversations," Elrod said before Berman jumped in again.

"But not today — all I’m saying is not today. She could do an interview today, I would think, you know, because she’s not out there today," the CNN host said.

Donald Trump and JD Vance made multiple media appearances this week

Donald Trump has held a news conference at Mar-a-Lago and had a long sit-down with supporter Elon Musk since Tim Walz joined the ticket last week. JD Vance, his running companion, interacted with reporters on several occasions during that time and made appearances on three Sunday talk shows this week.

Internet says the Democrats are 'becoming irrelevant' as Kamala Harris continues to avoid media

Netizens criticized Kamala Harris for not giving an interview or addressing the media since becoming the Democratic Presidential nominee for almost more than a month now. One X user tweeted, "Of course the media wants a press conference; you all are becoming irrelevant, and nobody cares to watch you as long as you continue to interject with your own political views."

Another added, "There is only one reason she is not sitting down for interviews. It is because the Libs are not hopeful about her winning. They’re only trying to buy time to perfect their cheating." "They're in serious trouble when Acosta, of all prejudiced wannabe reporters, calls the Dems out," remarked one.

"Oh, it most certainly would kill their campaign, and they know it," said someone else.
