Jimmy Fallon playfully reveals Vance’s reaction to report claiming Trump regrets choosing him as VP pick
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On 'The Tonight Show', Jimmy Fallon playfully mocked Sen JD Vance (R-Ohio) over a report that could potentially “upset” him.
On the Wednesday, August 14, episode of 'The Tonight Show', Fallon suggested that former president Donald Trump might be regretting his choice of running mate.
“According to a new report, former president Trump is furious at his campaign staff for letting him make the ‘terrible decision of picking JD Vance as his VP',” Fallon said.
He added, “Trump regrets pairing up with Vance. He’s like, ‘This is why I always sign a prenup.’”
Jimmy Fallon jokes about JD Vance's reaction to report about Trump 'fuming' over his selection
Donald Trump picked JD Vance as his running mate for the 2024 race in July. However, speculations are swirling that perhaps Vance is doing more harm than good to Trump's campiagn.
Jimmy Fallon’s comments on 'The Tonight Show', were based on a report from the tabloid The Irish Star, which claimed Trump was “fuming” over Vance's selection.
The article referenced remarks from Anthony Scaramucci, a former White House communications director and Trump critic, who claimed Trump “knows Vance was a terrible, terrible pick.” However, the Trump campaign has denied these claims, calling them “100% not true".
In his usual comedic style, Fallon noted Vance’s apparent distress over the news, quipping, “You can tell the news really made Vance upset, too. I mean, check out his eyeliner today,” and displayed an edited image of Vance with makeup running from his eyes.
There has been speculation that Vance uses eyeliner, though his wife, Usha Vance, insists it’s “all natural".
Jimmy Fallon pokes fun of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz's bus tour
Jimmy Fallon also took a swipe at the upcoming Democratic National Convention, saying, “Meanwhile, ahead of the Democratic National Convention, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are taking a bus tour through Pennsylvania. And get this—it's the same bus the Democrats threw President Biden under.”
He was referring to efforts by some Democrats to make Biden pull out of the 2024 race after his disastrous debate performance against Trump on June 27. Eventually, Biden ended his reelection campaign on July 21 and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee in his stead.
Fallon went on saying, “Oh! What a coincidence! Tomorrow, Biden and Harris are attending their first event together since Biden dropped out of the race, and they've actually been texting. We even got our hands on their messages.”
In a playful segment, Fallon showcased fictional text exchanges between Biden and Harris, creating a humorous narrative that kept the audience engaged.
Switching gears, Fallon also touched on some lighter news, including the recent acquisition of Pringles and Cheez-It by the makers of Snickers and Milky Way.
“This Halloween, get ready for fun-size Pringles,” he joked, before transitioning to entertainment news about Hallmark’s upcoming streaming service, Hallmark Plus, and a comical anecdote about an Alaska Airlines flight piloted by an unqualified breakdancer.
