CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: President Joe Biden called for his predecessor and GOP nominee Donald Trump to be "politically" locked up, during an official event in New Hampshire on Tuesday, October 22, reported Fox News.

According to the publication, the incumbent was in the region for an official event touting his administration's efforts to lower healthcare costs and prescription drug prices. Biden later addressed a political gathering, where he highlighted the dangers of having Trump reinstated in the White House.

Joe Biden says Donald Trump should be 'politically locked up'

In his speech, President Joe Biden reiterated his argument of the essence of democracy being at stake in the 2024 election, before claiming that GOP nominee Donald Trump should be locked up.

Ironically, "Lock her up" was a chant popularized by Trump among his supporters against Hillary Clinton during his 2016 election campaign.

"This is not a joke," Biden stated on Tuesday. "This is a guy (Trump) who also wants to replace every civil servant, every single one; thinks he has a right under the Supreme Court ruling on immunity to be able, if need be, if it was the case, to actually eliminate ... someone who he believes to be a threat to him."

"I mean, I know this sounds bizarre, it sounds like if I said this five years ago, you'd lock me up. (But), we gotta lock him up," he continued, quickly clarifying, "politically lock him up. Lock him out. That's what we have to do."

Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt reportedly released a statement in response to the comments that read, "Joe Biden just admitted the truth: he and Kamala’s plan all along has been to politically persecute their opponent President Trump because they can’t beat him fair and square."

"The Harris-Biden Admin is the real threat to democracy. We call on Kamala Harris to condemn Joe Biden’s disgraceful remark."

Joe Biden's remark about 'locking up' Donald Trump riles up the Internet

Netizens, especially conservatives, claimed Joe Biden was saying the "quiet part out loud" by calling for Donald Trump to be locked up. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"When Biden says the quiet part out loud, you have to take his word that that's what they are trying to do to Trump," wrote a user.

"Even though he qualified it with 'politically lock him up' that doesn’t unring the bell," shared another.

"They’re scared because Trump is winning," claimed a third.

"The left is sweating bullets," quipped a fourth user.

"Does anyone know what locking someone up politically means?" inquired one user.

"Lawfare plain as day. And the left cheered," slammed yet another.
