WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden said that Vladimir Putin is "not a decent man" while expressing concerns about the Russian president and questioning his decency.

During an interview with ABC World News anchor David Muir in Normandy, France, Biden announced the authorization of Ukraine to strike near Russia's border with American weapons, marking a notable shift in the US strategy, according to The New York Post.

Joe Biden calls Vladimir Putin 'a dictator'

While he was in France on Thursday, June 6, to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, Biden spoke about the decision to authorize Ukraine to utilize US weapons to strike Russia.

“They’re authorized to be used in proximity to the border when they’re being used on the other side of the border to attack specific targets in Ukraine,” he said.

“We’re not authorizing strikes 200 miles into Russia, and we’re not authorizing strikes on Moscow, on the Kremlin,” Biden added.

The 81-year-old politician who said Putin has "concerned me for 40 years” stated, "He’s not a decent man. He’s a dictator, and he’s struggling to make sure he holds his country together while still keeping this assault going."

“We’re not talking about giving them weapons to strike Moscow, to strike the Kremlin, to strike against — just across the border, where they’re receiving significant fire from conventional weapons used by the Russians to go into Ukraine to kill Ukrainians,” he added.

Joe Biden says Vladimir Putin 'cannot remain in power'

During a fundraiser in San Francisco in February, Biden remarked that Putin “cannot remain in power” and labeled him as a “crazy SOB.”

In his remarks at Normandy, Biden drew parallels between World War II and the current conflict, stressing the relevance of alliances and standing up to dictatorship.

“The struggle between a dictatorship and freedom is unending,” said Biden.

“To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators is simply unthinkable. Were we to do that, it means we would be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches," he added.
