BENGUELA, ANGOLA: President Joe Biden was caught on camera drowsing off during a meeting with leaders of several African nations, Whiskey Riff reported on Wednesday, December 4.

The clip went viral across social media platforms, where netizens trolled the POTUS for sleeping on the job with less than two months remaining of his time in office.

Where was Joe Biden caught sleeping?

According to the publication, Joe Biden is in Africa for the first week of December for a series of visits focusing primarily on the re-development of the Lobito Corridor railway.

The Biden administration has pledged $1 billion to help the countries of Zambia, Congo, and Angola for the project. The railway would help connect mineral mines which produce raw materials for batteries used in 'clean energy' technologies such as electronic vehicles.

Participating in a meeting with several country leaders on the subject, Biden was seen resting his eyes when Tazania's Vice President Philip Mpango was addressing the table. His eyes remained closed for more than a minute, reported Fox News.

POTUS was otherwise alert throughout the meeting and spoke before and after the incident.

Several reasons are being speculated over Biden shutting his eyes and resting his face in his hands. The most prominent among them is his being exhausted and jet-lagged after travel. At the age of 82, Biden is the oldest sitting president in the history of the United States. As such, the argument has its merits.

Internet trolls 'sleepy Joe'

Netizens reacting to the clip of Joe Biden dozing off during the meeting trolled him on the social media platform X. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Biden fell asleep during a summit with African leaders and y’all are hounding him for it. Give him a break. It’s tough work spending our hard-earned tax dollars. He needs his rest," wrote a user.

"Dude is cooked," stated another.

"Sleepy Joe doing what he does best," quipped a third.

"I used to fall out during my afternoon class in college. I feel you," jibed a fourth.

"Why does he need to be awake? Didn’t he already give them all our money?" mocked a fifth.

"He’s been sleeping on the job for 4 years, so no surprise here," shared a sixth user.

"The dude is completely checked out at this point, wild," chided yet another.
