NANTUCKET, MASSACHUSETTS: President Joe Biden stepped out in Nantucket, Massachusetts on Black Friday, hitting the shops and grabbing a book that's raising eyebrows everywhere.

He was spotted leaving Nantucket Bookworks holding a copy of 'The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917–2017' by Rashid Khalidi — and it is safe to say the choice didn’t go unnoticed.

Joe Biden's controversial Black Friday pick and relationship with Israel

This isn’t your average bestseller. Rashid Khalidi’s book dives into the history of Palestine, framing it as "a colonial war waged against the indigenous population." It describes how various powers sought to displace Palestinians and hand over their homeland "to another people against their will."

Khalidi — a Columbia University professor and historian of Palestinian and Lebanese descent — is blunt about Israeli policies, calling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration "the most extreme government" in Israel’s history.

Khalidi even takes a swipe at the media, accusing it of slanted coverage favoring Israel.

The author gave his two cents about Biden flashing his book for the cameras. "I do not speak to the Post (or the Times for that matter), so this is not for publication, but my reaction is that this is 4 years too late," Khalidi told the New York Post

According to the outlet, Khalidi's book first hit shelves in 2020 and took aim at former President Donald Trump’s policies, including moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights.

Khalidi wrote, "Trump’s people abandoned even the shabby old pretense at impartiality. With this plan, the United States ceased to be ‘Israel’s lawyer,’ becoming instead the mouthpiece of the most extreme government in Israel’s history."

Now, whether Biden actually bought the book or if it was handed to him in the store is a mystery. The president and his family—including his son Hunter Biden, daughter Ashley Biden, and other members—had just enjoyed dinner at the Brotherhood of Thieves restaurant. They were gearing up for Nantucket’s annual Christmas tree-lighting event.

Either way, holding the book raised eyebrows considering Biden has long described himself as a Zionist. "You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist. I’m a Zionist," he declared earlier this month while hosting Israeli President Isaac Herzog in the Oval Office.

Biden's relationship with Israel has been a political tightrope, to say the least. While he's openly supported the Jewish state, he's also drawn criticism for his handling of military aid. Earlier this year, he paused shipments of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel citing concerns over the humanitarian toll of the war.

After the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which left 1,200 dead, Biden rushed to Israel in a show of solidarity. Yet, activists back home branded him "Genocide Joe" for supporting Israel's invasion of Gaza. Protests broke out, with thousands chanting "F**k Joe Biden" outside the White House and even painting the phrase on its gates.

Behind closed doors, reports claim Biden hasn't been shy about criticizing Netanyahu —allegedly even using expletives to describe him.

Joe Biden slammed as he is seen with Rashid Khalidi's anti-Israel book

Of course, social media wasted no time blasting Joe Biden after he was pictured with Rashid Khalidi's anti-Israel book.

One said, "Too little, too late," and another snarked, "He must have thought it was an instructional book."

"I bet he reads that book as many times as Trump read the Bible he was photographed holding," read another comment. An individual wrote, "Someone remind him the elections are over and there is no need for these photo ops."

One jibed, "Gosh dang it, Joe! We’ve told you before. You have to read books RIGHT SIDE UP if you want to understand history." "He's wondering why his fabulous chapter in it hasn't been written yet," quipped a person.

"God, I just despise him. I am so sorry I voted for him - reluctantly - in 2020," remarked one more.

"Biden picks up a book on the Israel-Palestine conflict during his Christmas shopping. Is he looking for a new bedtime story or just trying to balance his reading list after all those political thrillers?" questioned a person.
