WASHINGTON, DC: During his address at the Libertarian National Convention on Saturday, May 25, former President Donald Trump faced a strong backlash for his attempts to garner support from the attendees.

In his speech, the 77-year-old MAGA strongman indirectly criticized President Joe Biden, suggesting that a second term for the incumbent guarantees "there will be no more liberty for anyone" in America.

The audience responded unfavorably to the ex-POTUS’ speech, with loud “boos” and derogatory remarks, according The Blast.

Additionally, Biden's campaign team mocked the presumptive Republican nominee's duration of speaking on stage.

Despite the negative reception, Trump did receive some acknowledgment for his proposed actions, including the potential release of Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, which garnered modest approval at the event.

Libertarian crowd was merciless against Donald Trump

During the Libertarian National Convention held at a Washington hotel over the weekend, former President Donald Trump encountered opposition from the attendees.

A video revealed that upon taking the stage to address the crowd, he was met with a contentious atmosphere, marked by expletives such as "Bulls**t" and "f*** you".

This occurrence underscores the challenge he faces in appealing to both ends of the political spectrum.

"The fact is we should not be fighting each other," Trump urged the crowd. "If Joe Biden gets back in, there will be no more liberty for anyone in our country. Combine with us in a partnership – we're asking that of the libertarians. We must work together. Combine with us. You have to combine with us."

While the Libertarian Party typically garners 3% or less of the national vote, its influence could be significant in closely contested swing states during upcoming elections.

The Republican billionaire pulled out all the stops to win over the crowd. Despite his best efforts, he faced strong opposition, with many criticizing him for increasing federal deficits and benefiting pharmaceutical companies in the process of developing the coronavirus vaccine.

Citing his mounting legal troubles, he quipped, "If I wasn't a libertarian before, I sure as hell am a libertarian now."

The crowd remained undeterred in their resolve even when the former Commander-in-Chief quoted an article by political commentator Deroy Murdock reprimanding Libertarians to vote for him.

"Only if you want to win. Only if you want to win. Maybe you don't want to win. Maybe you don't want to win. Only do that if you want to win. If you want to lose, don't do that. Keep getting your 3% every four years," Trump mocked the Libertarian Party supporters.

He continued, "The Libertarians want to vote for me, and most of them will because we have to get rid of the worst president in history, and together we will."

President Joe Biden's campaign team also mocked Donald Trump

The 81-year-old US President's reelection campaign's social media handle, Biden HQ, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a brief video of Trump being jeered during the convention.

Biden HQ also mentioned that the booing prompted the 77-year-old to end his speech after thirty minutes.

Their tweet caption read, "Trump ends his speech only 30 minutes after he is practically booed off the stage."
