AUSTIN, TEXAS: Podcaster Joe Rogan, on Tuesday, April 21, jokingly impersonated President Donald Trump while recounting how he was roasted as “very liberal” during a White House visit.

Speaking with guest Comedian Luis J Gomez on his podcast, Rogan also addressed viral speculation about a later interaction with Trump at a UFC event, insisting the encounter was friendly and widely misunderstood online.

Joe Rogan mimics Trump's accent

The discussion began when Gomez brought up the backlash Rogan received after appearing at the White House.

“I did see it. People are pissed.”

Rogan sounded amused by the reaction and asked, “Who’s pissed?”

Gomez replied that some online critics were angry because Rogan had previously described himself as politically homeless, then later appeared beside Trump.

Rogan then explained that Trump himself had turned the issue into a joke during the Oval Office event.

“He joked about it. He called me a liberal, during the whole thing.”

Rogan then slipped into a Trump-style impression, using an exaggerated New York accent. “He’s like, Joe, he’s very liberal!”

The comedian clarified that the exchange was a light-hearted banter, suggesting Trump was poking fun at Rogan’s independent political image rather than attacking him.

Gomez then shifted to another viral clip of Trump approaching Rogan during a UFC event, which some social media users claimed showed tension between the two men.

“The big conspiracy theory is that Trump is mad at you…” Rogan immediately dismissed that interpretation.

“No, it was the opposite. It was literally the opposite.” He explained that the conversation was actually about ibogaine, an issue he had messaged Trump about the day before.

According to Rogan, Trump responded positively and asked what needed to happen next.

Joe Rogan's visit to White House

Rogan visited the White House on April 18 for an executive order signing connected to expanded research into ibogaine, a psychoactive compound being studied for addiction treatment, trauma recovery and mental health use.

Trump credited Rogan with helping bring attention to the issue while also publicly teasing him.

“We all respect Joe. He’s a little bit more liberal than... that’s okay. I have a lot of friends that are liberal.”

The president also praised Rogan personally. “Joe is an amazing guy and he wrote me a little note about this and I had it checked out. I didn’t just do it. I had it checked out.”

Earlier this month, Rogan said he felt “politically homeless,” arguing that many voters no longer feel represented by either major party.
