AUSTIN, TEXAS: Podcaster Joe Rogan refused to label himself a Republican even after endorsing President Donald Trump in the November 2024 general election, Mediaite reported on Friday, January 24.

Rogan had interviewed Trump on his show, 'The Joe Rogan Experience', ahead of the election before publicly backing the then-GOP nominee. He even attended Trump's presidential inauguration at the Capitol Rotunda on January 20, which he described as "bizarre."

However, he claimed to be neither a Republican nor a Democrat, as he argued, "It doesn’t make sense to be on a team.”

Joe Rogan clarifies his political stance

The 57-year-old insisted on the Thursday, January 23 episode of his podcast that he found certain ideas from across the political aisle appealing to him.

"I don’t consider myself a Republican. I don’t consider myself a Democrat either. I consider myself an American," he stated. "I’m a human being and there’s a lot of things that the Democrats believe that I believe. There’s a lot of things that they say that I say, that makes a lot of sense to me, and there’s a lot of things that the Republicans say (where) I say, that makes a lot of sense to me too," he said.

"The idea that I have to ignore things that make sense to me because it’s coming from the wrong team is just stupid," he continued. "These are bad faith arguments where you have to have a conversation with someone and pretend that what they’re saying is not logical because they’re supposed to be your opponent," he added.

“That to me is just dumb. That doesn’t benefit me at all. That doesn’t benefit anyone listening at all. It’s just stupid. It’s a stupid way to think,” stated Rogan.

Internet trolls Joe Rogan over his safe stance

Netizens on the social media platform X reacting to Joe Rogan's announcement trolled him for not publicly picking a side even after helping Trump secure a second term in the White House. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"It’s not what you say but what you do," wrote a user.

"I don't consider myself to be bald, unfortunately, reality doesn't agree," mocked another.

"Rogan is for sale to the highest bidder. It’s not a flex to claim to not have principles," jibed someone else.

"He's 100% MAGA he just is too ashamed to admit it," quipped a user.

"Duh. He’s a chameleon based on what side is most profitable for him," chided one user.

"Joe Rogan is a MAGA enabler. Rather than take a personal stand, he's following the money," echoed yet another.
