NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: MSNBC host Joe Scarborough took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, June 5, to defend President Joe Biden's cognitive abilities.

His remark came in light of an article published by The Wall Street Journal the day before, titled, 'Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping'. It claimed that the 81-year-old incumbent "performed poorly at times," and noted that the claims are strongly refuted by the White House.

According to Deadline, the article named only one of its GOP sources, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. "I used to meet with him when he was vice president. I’d go to his house. He’s not the same person," he reportedly stated.

Detailing a Ukraine funding negotiation that took place in January, WSJ noted Biden speaking "so softly at times that some participants struggled to hear him." He further "read from notes to make obvious points, paused for extended periods and sometimes closed his eyes for so long that some in the room wondered whether he had tuned out."

Joe Scarborough's defense of Joe Biden

The 'Morning Joe' host slammed the article on his show, calling it a “Trump hit piece.”

He made multiple posts on X sharing his stance, writing in one, "I have repeatedly stated on air that I am an avid reader and cheerleader for the WSJ. That is what makes this false, biased story so disappointing. It is undermined immediately by the massive weight on on-the-record contradictions."

"I have spent a good bit of time talking to Kevin McCarthy through the years and hours with Biden in 2024. There is no comparison. Biden is far sharper, more intellectually curious, and far more insightful on global affairs than any House GOP speaker I have met over 30 years," he stated in another.

Internet trolls Joe Scarborough's take

Responding to Scarborough's tweet defending Biden, a user inquired on X, "How's the weather in fantasyland?"

"This is really embarrassing for you," jibed another.

"Dude you typed that crap out and actually hit post. You know that right? You didn't even put a <satire> label or anything. You know we like see Joe ON CAMERA all the time right? Literally not a single human believes this," commented one.

"When your credibility evaporates into the winds," mocked a user.

"Biden isn't even sharper than a wet noodle!" exclaimed another.
