John Biggerstaff: Swinger ex-cop suspected in murder conspiracy of Florida Microsoft exec Jared Bridegan
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: Police are investigating the possible involvement of a former police officer in the conspiracy to murder Florida Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan.
John Biggerstaff, 56, a disgraced former reserve officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, has emerged as a suspect alongside others in the 2022 murder case.
Insights into Jared Bridegan's murder conspiracy
Bridegan, a father of four, was fatally shot on February 16, 2022, under suspicious circumstances. As details of the investigation unfold, it has been revealed that Biggerstaff, described as a "long term associate" of Mario Fernandez Saldana, one of the primary suspects, may have played a role in the conspiracy.
While Bridegan's ex-wife, Shanna Gardner, her husband Mario Fernandez Saldana, and Henry Tenon, the former tenant of Fernandez Saldana, have already been charged in connection with the murder-for-hire plot, Biggerstaff has not yet faced charges.
Court documents and police records shed light on the ongoing investigation, indicating that Biggerstaff's name has surfaced as one of the likely co-conspirators. Despite being interviewed by authorities, Biggerstaff maintains his innocence and denies any involvement in the crime.
Investigators have scrutinized Biggerstaff's connections to Fernandez Saldana, including their long-standing association and increased communication around the time of the murder. Shockingly, Biggerstaff claimed to investigators that he and his wife were swingers but Gardner was not.
Timeline of Jared Bridegan's murder
Bridegan found himself entangled in a contentious and drawn-out legal dispute with Gardner concerning the custody of their now 13-year-old twins at the time of his tragic demise. As per the custody arrangement established before his passing, the children spent alternating weeks with both parents, with each parent enjoying a designated "date night" with the children every Wednesday.
On the fateful evening of his murder, Bridegan had just returned the twins to their mother's care following one such "date night." It was then that he encountered a deliberate obstruction, a tire placed in the road, compelling him to halt his vehicle. As he stepped out to address the impediment, he was fatally shot, all while his infant daughter, Bexley, remained securely fastened in her child seat in the rear of the car.
The tragic murder of Bridegan has left behind a grieving family, including his widow Kirsten, 32, whom he married in 2017, and their two young daughters. Prosecutors have sought the death penalty for both Gardner and Fernandez Saldana, despite their pleas of not guilty, per Daily Mail.
In contrast, Tenon has opted to cooperate with prosecutors by admitting guilt to second-degree murder, anticipating a minimum sentence of 15 years. Although Biggerstaff, labeled by authorities as a "long-term associate" of Fernandez Saldana and previously convicted for sex trafficking and drug-related crimes, has not been formally charged in connection with the murder.
