WASHINGTON, DC: Senator John Fetterman on Thursday, June 5, took a swipe at members of his party rallying behind Elon Musk simply because he’s now at odds with Donald Trump.

Fetterman’s comments come as Democrats increasingly praise Musk for his scathing attacks on Trump’s sprawling economic legislation, dubbed the “Big, Beautiful Bill” which promises sweeping tax cuts, tighter border security, and boosts to domestic energy.

Musk, who has largely been aligned with conservative priorities in recent years, shocked Washington this week by calling the bill “a disgusting abomination” and openly suggesting Trump should face impeachment.

John Fetterman blasts Democrats for sudden support of Elon Musk over Trump budget clash

Speaking about his party’s recent show of support for Elon Musk’s rejection of Donald Trump’s multi-trillion-dollar spending bill, John Fetterman said, “The Dems, we’ve been dumping all over Musk and vandalizing Teslas or whatever, and now, suddenly, we might be more back into him and thing.”

Democrats have previously protested outside Tesla dealerships and criticized Musk’s leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was launched under Trump to slash federal spending. Some Tesla locations were even targeted in violent attacks earlier this year, prompting Trump’s Justice Department to classify the incidents as domestic terrorism.

Fetterman reflected on how quickly things have changed, saying, “It wasn't that long ago that Tesla was like the virtue-signaling kind of accessory for Dems.” He added, “I would never want to vandalize Teslas, and the ‘big, beautiful bill’ is wrong for America. So, from my perspective, I've just tried to be consistent through that.”

The shift in tone came after Musk, through a series of fiery posts on X (formerly Twitter), denounced Trump’s budget proposal. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.”

Representative Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, was one of the few in his party this week to say openly that Democrats should consider teaming up with Elon Musk to block Trump’s so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill,” since they share a common goal.

Senator John Fetterman stirred political debate online after calling out fellow Democrats for cozying up to Elon Musk following his recent tensions with Donald Trump.

One user wrote, “When even Fetterman’s connecting the dots, you know the bill’s a mess.”

Another chimed in, “Amazing that retarded Dems now care about spending.”

“Wild how both parties flip on Elon depending on who he flatters that week. It’s not about policy anymore, it’s about clout rotation,” another user added.

A user questioned, “So y’all bullied Elon for years and now suddenly he’s daddy because he said one thing you agree with lol be serious.”

Mockery of the Democratic pivot also came in, with one user saying, “Elon will have a heart attack if he sees how Democrats write their own bill.”

And another summed up the situation with, “The Dems dump for the sake of dumping, and unknowingly are dumping on themselves.”
