LUMBER RIVER STATE PARK, NORTH CAROLINA: New details have surfaced from affidavits in the case of Mica Miller's suicide, implicating her pastor husband, John-Paul Miller.
Mica's family and friends maintain that the abusive nature of her marriage ultimately led to her tragic demise.
In an email sent before her death, John-Paul expressed his intent to "attack and cause pain" rather than extend forgiveness, as per Daily Mail.
Mica was found deceased in Lumber River State Park in North Carolina on April 27. Her death is said to have been caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Affidavits filed by Mica Miller’s family unveil shocking email from John-Paul Miller
Affidavits submitted by Mica's family express serious concerns about her relationship with John-Paul, described by acquaintances as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" and a "false prophet."
In a November 2022 email to his wife, the pastor of the Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, admitted, "When someone hurts me, I try to hurt them back rather than forgive. Instead of me forgiving you... I just attack and try to cause pain," according to an affidavit filed by Mica's brother, Nathaniel Francis, on May 2.
This email, contradictory to John-Paul's teachings of forgiveness, is just one of many actions that deviate from his role as a preacher – with adultery being one of the main concerns.
John-Paul is said to have repeatedly cheated on Mica as their relationship went downhill.
What do Mica Miller's divorce documents reveal?
Mica initiated divorce proceedings in October 2023 on the grounds of "adultery."
The filings state, "Plaintiff (Mica) is informed and believes that the defendant (John-Paul) has and is currently engaging in acts of adultery with women whose names are well known to the defendant."
"Plaintiff has not condoned the adultery. The plaintiff would show that she left the marital home due to defendant's philandering as well as defendant's growing hostility towards plaintiff," added the document.
It further revealed, "Defendant has threatened to throw plaintiffs belongings into the yard, locked plaintiff out of her own home and has defamed and demeaned the plaintiff before a congregation of people," as per Daily Mail.
Mica's divorce filing portrays her as a "faithful and dutiful wife," who was committed to both their marriage and their church during the seven years they spent together.
John-Paul subsequently counter-filed, seeking exclusive use of the family home and a vehicle, along with requesting that Mica refrain from posting about him or the church on social media.
This wasn't the first time John-Paul's marital fidelity had come into question. The pastor's previous marriage ended when it came to light that he was having an affair with Mica, who was then regularly caring for his four children, back in 2015.
John-Paul Miller's long criminal history
John-Paul has a history of encounters with law enforcement, including instances of assault and battery as well as numerous traffic violations, as reported by Daily Mail.
In 1999, when he was 19, John-Paul drove his truck into a woman named Jennifer Garland, who was placing sandbags near her home due to flooding. Despite her warning to slow down, he struck her twice, causing severe injuries.
Even though the civil suit she brought against him was dismissed, he received a suspended four-year prison sentence, probation, a small fine, and community service.
John-Paul has faced driving-related troubles before. In 1998, he drove with a suspended license, and in 1995, at the age of 17, he was involved in a car accident that caused injuries, resulting in his parents having to pay $6,200.
In 2022, he petitioned South Carolina legislators for a pardon for his convictions of assault and battery and driving while suspended, and his request was granted.
John-Paul was involved in a significant dispute with the mother of his first son, Logan, in 1998. His family and church community wrote letters to the court in his defense, with his father asserting that the pastor's only issue was with his driving and that his son would be "better off with his father in a beautiful home."
John-Paul and the mother of his first son eventually worked out a joint custody agreement. In 2000, he went on to marry his first wife, Alison, with whom he shares four children.
Notably, his first son, Logan, now 27, encountered legal trouble in January of this year for causing harm to a woman with a glass bottle and damaging her property. He was charged with first-degree domestic violence, according to the Horry County Police Department.
Recently, John-Paul faced charges for failing to stop at a stop sign in April and for disregarding traffic signals in February.
