Cops confirm John-Paul Miller was not in NC at time of wife Mica's death in bid to quash homicide rumors
ROBESON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA: John-Paul Miller, the estranged husband of Mica Miller, stayed overnight in Charleston, South Carolina at the time of Mica's death, according to Newsweek.
Mica was found deceased in Lumber River State Park in North Carolina on April 27.
Authorities have determined that Mica's death was a suicide, resulting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, following an extensive investigation.
Additionally, more information regarding John-Paul's location during Mica's death has been disclosed in an effort to dispel rumors of homicide.
Robeson County Sheriff’s Office shares findings
On Tuesday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office's Facebook post disclosed a timeline concerning the investigation into Mica's death.
It read, "Unfortunately, rumors and conspiracy theories were spreading quickly, and assumptions were being made. However, in the end, we must make decisions based on the facts, and evidence that has been gathered."
Additionally, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office Facebook post asserted, "The investigation also revealed that Miller and her estranged husband [John-Paul Miller] had separated and were involved in the legal system."
During the investigation, friends of Mica Miller expressed doubt that she had taken her own life. At the time of her death, Mica and John-Paul Miller were in the midst of a divorce.
The post added, "This information led to the investigators confirming the whereabouts of Miller and a female that he is allegedly romantically involved with."
They concluded, "Investigators were able to confirm that both individuals were not in North Carolina on the night before and the day of the Miller's death. Investigators learned through interviews that John-Paul Miller was at an athletic event in Charleston on the day of Mica Miller's death."
John-Paul Miller’s vehicle details during time of Mica’s death released
According to the press release, John-Paul Miller's vehicle was spotted traveling on Highway 17 Bypass in Horry County, South Carolina, at 2.22 pm on the day of Mica Miller's death.
The release mentioned that John-Paul Miller had company during his travels to and from the Charleston event.
Myrtle Beach Pastor John-Paul announced Mica’s death during service
John-Paul Miller, who serves as a pastor at Solid Rock at Market Common church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, reportedly made an announcement about Mica Miller's death at the conclusion of a service.
He stated that she had taken her own life following a battle with mental illness. "I got a call late last night, my wife has passed away," he said.
Also, he urged congregants not to discuss the matter within the church premises. "It was self-induced and it was up in North Carolina," he said.
He was relieved from his duties on Monday, May 6, "for a time of healing, counsel and guidance, pursuant to our governing instrument."
