LUMBA RIVER STATE PARK, ROBESON COUNTY: The cause of death of the wife of a Myrtle Beach pastor, Mica Miller, 30, has been disclosed.

John-Paul Miller, her husband, stated that Mica took her own life on Saturday, April 27, when her body was found at Lumba River State Park. Nevertheless, friends and family are urging for a comprehensive inquiry.

On Thursday, May 2, the Robeson County Sheriff's Office declared that they had initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances of her death.

What did the medical examiner report?

According to Dr Richard Johnson, the Robeson County Medical Examiner, Miller's death resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Dr Johnson stated, "Based on the nature of the wound, that it is consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. And it was not in the back of the head, as it has been speculated." 

Although not the on-call medical examiner during Miller's demise, Dr Johnson went to the scene to assist, as per WPDE.

Additionally, he serves as a regional pathologist for the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

After confirming the cause of death, Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins arranged a meeting with Mica's family. He intends to disclose more details about the medical examiner's findings on Tuesday. 

He urged everyone "for everyone to please await the full timeline of events before making assumptions and coming to conclusions."

Mica Miller shares video addressing abuse before her death

In the weeks before her death, Mica shared a poignant video addressing the issue of abuse in marriage. 

In the video, she extended support to "ANYONE struggling with leaving a dangerous situation because they think God will be 'mad' at them."

Mica emphasized, "Today my heart's a little heavy. I've had lots of women that have reached out to me about situations of abuse, and I just want to tell you what a lot of people have told me lately, because I think I forgot" 

She added, "But you are the bride of Christ before anybody else's, male or female, it doesn't matter what gender you are, abuse is abuse."

John Miller mentioned about Mica’s suicidal thoughts

In an interview, Mica's husband John Miller reaffirmed that his wife had died by suicide, as per DailyMail.

He mentioned, "Each time we would help her through it and take her to the doctor, and we got through it and everything was fine.”

He added, “She even gave a few testimonies here at church that we have on video. She battled suicide but God took care of her and got her through it.”

He further expressed that she was an exceptional wife, and they cherished spending long hours conversing with each other at night.

Another claimed, "Too bad they could not have looked for gun powder residue on his hands and arms and hers too."

The third wrote, "I don't believe it, he or his new gf killed her."The fourth added, "None of this seems properly investigated. It seemed like she was looking for a future. Not at all to enter life. He could have held her hand with his over it and pulled the trigger. After all he is a male and stronger than she is. Especially with his history of violence."

The last said, "Sounds shady. Still don’t trust the husband. ”
