LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Daily Show' host Jon Stewart had a succinct yet powerful reaction to President Joe Biden’s announcement on Sunday that he is ending his reelection campaign.

Within moments of Biden’s official withdrawal statement, Stewart took to X to share his one-word response.

Stewart’s terse comment reflects a culmination of his ongoing critique of both President Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Jon Stewart’s critique of political leaders

Since resuming his role on 'The Daily Show' earlier this year, Stewart has been outspoken about his dissatisfaction with the current political landscape.

In February, Stewart had previously questioned the effectiveness of the leading candidates in the presidential race. “What the fuck are we doing here, people?” he remarked. “Biden’s lost a step, but Trump regularly says things at rallies that would warrant a wellness check.”

This sentiment was further echoed earlier this month when Stewart suggested that it wasn’t too late to consider alternative candidates for the 2024 election.

Although he didn’t directly call for Biden’s withdrawal, he did underscore the growing voter frustration and the desire for new leadership. “Do you have any idea how thirsty Americans are for any hint of inspiration or leadership and a release from this choice of a megalomaniac and a suffocating gerontocracy?” Stewart lamented. “It is crushing our fucking spirits.”

Fans react to Joe Biden's withdrawal from race

Following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not seek reelection in 2024, public reactions have been diverse and revealing.

One user wrote, "Biden will go down as one of the most accomplished presidents of America and was able to achieve that in only four years."

Another user replied, "Biden has done what the felon and all the republican would never do and that is recognize when it is time to stop. I think the only thing biden could have done in stepping aside is to have done it last thursday at the same time the felon was ranting during that long speech. lol"

One user said, "Suddenly Donny is the ancient of Days."

Another user stated, "And now ALL the things Donnie/MAGAs were throwing at Biden only apply to 45. Too Funny!!"

One added, "Having 2 old men running for office was deflating. Happy that Biden has dropped out & ready for someone new."

One wrote, "At this point Biden’s problem isn’t his age and his dropping out, it is his accomplishments (yes there are failures too) not getting recognized. I do believe history will catch up to that, probably in a few years."

"No. The problem is exactly his age. Not his accomplishments. He did more things than Trump ever came close to. His age is exactly the problem, replied one individual."
