SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: Authorities claim that a man from Utah beat a 2-year-old boy to death and seriously injured the boy's twin sister. Reports said Jonathan Dunn, who was previously convicted for child abuse, has been chaged with murder and child sexual abuse.

Police were called to the house in the city of Roy, thirty miles north of Salt Lake City, on Thursday, December 21 by 36-year-old Jonathan Dunn, who reported  an unconscious two-year-old boy.

Two-year-old boy killed and twin sister seriously injured

According to an arrest affidavit that Law&Crime reviewed, the boy, identified as Aleister, had "several visible injuries to his face and body" when the officers found him lying on the porch.

When officers entered the house, they discovered his twin sisters on a couch with multiple facial bruises.

Jonathan Dunn accused of pushing children into closet door frame

After the two kids were taken to a hospital by paramedics, the girl's condition was listed as critical and the boy as dead. According to the affidavit, Dunn started to "play a game" with the boy and girl at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday, punching them "repeatedly in the back, sides, and chest."

Speaking with detectives, Dunn claimed he was struck them more forcefully than necessary.

In addition, Dunn is accused of pushing the kids into a closet door frame, pinching them all over their body, and hitting them with the butt of a nerf gun, "causing their body to go limp."

According to documents, he told detectives that the boy began wheezing when he woke up in the morning, so he gave him cough medicine. He allegedly said he called 911 after the boy stopped breathing about an hour later.

“He admitted that he lost control and his anger got the best of him and he caused these injuries to small children,” detectives wrote.

Charges against Jonathan Dunn

The affidavit only refers to him as a babysitter and says nothing more about his relationship with the kids. The 2-year-old boy was identified as Aleister, according to a GoFundMe page, and he passed away "at the hands of a complete monster."

Dunn was charged with aggravated murder, aggravated child abuse, and two counts of aggravated child sexual abuse. Unbonded, he is being held at the Weber County Jail.

According to the police, if found guilty, he might be executed. Dunn has a history of child abuse, according to detectives, having broken the arm of another 2-year-old and bruised his face.

According to the Associated Press, Dunn received a prison sentence ranging from one to fifteen years for the 2016 incident. According to the AP, he was released from prison in April 2019 and completed his parole by December 2021.
