PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON: According to the Port Townsend Police Department (PTPD), the infant who was kidnapped by his father, 37-year-old Jordan Sorensen, was discovered dead on Saturday.

The PTPD issued an alert on Friday stating that they were trying to find a one-month-old boy who was missing and in danger and thought to have been abducted by Sorensen.

Police detained Jordan Sorensen

Around 10 am on Saturday, police found and apprehended Sorensen on receiving a tip about his whereabouts. “After an extensive manhunt that began yesterday afternoon and continued through the night, officers located and arrested the infant’s father,” said a spokesperson.

Sorensen, according to the authorities, first resisted being taken into custody but eventually gave up and guided them to where the baby was. The infant's body was discovered in Kah Tai Park.

According to officials, Sorensen was first wanted for questioning in connection with kidnapping, abuse of a criminal nature, and reckless endangerment, according to according to MyNorthwest.

Given that Sorensen was allegedly unable to provide the child with the "basic necessities of life," the police considered the baby to be in danger. Sorensen initially resisted speaking with police after being taken into custody.

He did, however, ultimately lead police into the park where they believed he had been hiding. Officers eventually discovered the lifeless body of the baby. A spokesperson stated, "Officers and deputies are working to process the scene and the cause of death is under investigation. There is no threat to the public.”

Baby Zeke was abducted and killed by his father

A similar incident took place in Idaho in December 2023. Zeke Best, a 10-month-old boy, was found dead after being abducted by his father, Jeremy Albert Best on December 2, 2023.

Best was also suspected of murdering Zeke's mother, Kali Jean Randall, on November 30, 2023. The incident began when Best was seen naked in a store in Swan Valley, Idaho.

After being released from the center, a 911 call was received, revealing Randall's death from an apparent homicide. An intense search ensued for Zeke and his father, who authorities considered "heavily armed and dangerous."

Zeke's body was found next to Best, who was alive but injured. The cause of death has not yet been determined. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are investigating the scene.

Best was detained and treated for injuries before being booked into Bonneville County Jail on a homicide warrant. Zeke's body will undergo an autopsy in Boise to determine the cause of the child's death.
