PENSACOLA, FLORIDA: A Pensacola man has been taken into custody for beating his grandparents to death. Deputies discovered the victims in their residence, and according to officials, both died from blunt force trauma.
Jordon Dominique King, the couple's 24-year-old grandson, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. Investigators were informed that he had been living in the house with his grandparents, who were in their 60s, even though his jail records indicate he was homeless.
Escambia County Sheriff reveals cause of death
The son of the deceased couple visited his parents for a welfare check and discovered them dead in two different rooms. He then informed the police about the murder.
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons spoke with News 5 at the scene of the double homicide investigation and stated that it was a case of blunt-force trauma, but he was unable to confirm a particular cause.
Simmons said that because Jordon King, who is currently detained, resided at the house "off and on," detectives were interested in speaking with him.
According to the deputies, King was arrested after they discovered him strolling around Blue Angel Parkway.
“We were investigating from that point as an act of foul play, and we are working it as a double homicide,” Simmons said.
“At the time, the other individual that lived there is the grandson of the victims and we were looking for him, Mr. King is who we were looking for. Because we put this out, someone said, ‘Hey, I just talked to this person; gave us an idea as to where Mr. King might be and located him in the Bellview area near Blue Angel Parkway,” he said.
Jordon King had a history of crime
Following the start of a manhunt, King was apprehended in the Bellview neighborhood without incident, according to AL.com.
As of February 23 afternoon, he was still being held without bond at the Escambia County Jail on suspicion of premeditated murder, in anticipation of his court appearance on February 27.
Per the Florida Department of Corrections, King was released from a Florida state prison on November 29 after serving about 4 1/2 years of a 5-year sentence for two counts of burglary, two counts of grand theft auto, and one count of grand theft.
According to his jail records, he was taken into custody in Escambia County six days after his release on a trespassing charge.
Before being released from Escambia County Jail on February 15, one week before his grandparents were killed, he had spent over two months in jail.
