Joy Behar mocked as Bill Maher tells her she’ll ‘lose all credibility’ if she holds back Biden criticism
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: On the Tuesday, May 21 episode, of ABC’s 'The View', Bill Maher clashed with the hosts, arguing that failing to criticize President Biden could result in compromising one's integrity with their audience.
The 'Real Time' host appeared on 'The View' to promote his new book 'What This Comedian Said Will Shock You'.
Joy Behar questions Bill Maher on criticizing Biden
Appearing on the show, Bill Maher started the conversation with 'The View' hosts about their long-standing relationship as comedians.
Joy Behar mentioned Maher's critique of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden, saying, "You're a comic, but you basically go after Trump and Biden", to which Maher responded, emphasizing the greater danger he sees in Trump.

"I’m nervous about saying anything against Biden, because I feel as though - not that I have so much power, and you have some more than I do, obviously - but are you afraid that you might, you know, influence the people who are on the fence?" co-host Joy Behar asked Maher.
"I think you lose all credibility," Maher replied.
He added, "I do. My bond with my audience has always been I don’t pull a punch. My bond with my audience is you’re not going to like everything I say but you know I’m saying what I really think is true."
Bill Maher compares Biden to Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Maher, known for his liberal views, did not shy away from critiquing his own political camp on various issues such as woke ideology, Covid-19 management, and the electoral prospects of President Biden.
Allegedly, in a recent commentary, Maher pointed out that despite President Biden being only a few years older than former President Trump, his demeanor and performance often give the impression of someone much older.
Maher remarked, "I saw him yesterday giving that speech. I mean, I’m sorry, he’s cadaver-like."
Behar insisted Biden's "brain is good, he's still great". Then Maher drew a comparison between Biden and late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, suggesting that like Ginsburg, who faced criticism for not retiring during a Democratic administration, Biden's age and performance might be a concern for some within his own party.
"When I came back from the strike in September I said he should get out," Maher said.
"Because he’s just lost the faith of people. It’s not fair. He’s actually done a pretty good job, but I said he’s going to be ‘Ruth Bader Biden’ is the term I used. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, she stayed too long at the fair," he added.
"I remember Obama had her over to the White House like in 2013 to hint, y’know, ‘Hey, spend more time with the grandkids, would that not be a good idea, Ruth?’ And she didn’t take the hint, and she was not in good health, and she stayed too long, and she ruined her legacy and got the Supreme Court now to be a pretty right-wing organization," Maher added.
"I said Biden shouldn’t do that, but y’know? Ego. He’s Dracula. He has crossed oceans of time to be here, and he’s not going to give it up now."
In a subsequent part of the discussion, Maher expressed disagreement with Behar's prior statement where she had implied that Trump supporters should consider putting a swastika on their MAGA hats.
"I’m not going to defend Donald Trump ever, but I would never say that we should put the swastika on the cap because I think you can hate Donald Trump, you can’t hate everybody who likes him. It’s half the country. I don’t want to live in that country, I don’t want to live in the country where I hate half the country - and I don’t hate half the country," he said.
"What’s going to get him elected is this woke stuff," he added.
Internet questions Joy Behar's 'credibility' in the first place
Social media was abuzz with criticism of Joy Behar's credibility following Maher's remark that by avoiding criticism of President Biden, 'The View' hosts risk losing integrity with their audience.
A specific viewer shared, "Can’t lose what she never had."
In a similar vein, another observer chimed in, "That would be relevant if she had any credibility to begin with."
Moreover, a viewer highlighted, "You lose credibility by holding back the truth."
A follower contributed by stating, "No kidding."
A comment emphasized, "She has none in the first place."
Echoing this sentiment, another comment reiterated, "What credibility?"
Expanding on the discussion, an individual elaborated, saying, "Behar has zero credibility! NONE!"
That would be relevant if she had any credibility to begin with.
