‘The View’ host Whoopi Goldberg faces calls to retire after saying ‘sometimes this gig feels like hell’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Whoopi Goldberg faced online backlash and calls to quit ‘The View’ after likening the talk show to “hell.”
It happened at the beginning of Tuesday, July 8, episode of the show when all the women hosts entered the set and the live audience welcomed them with loud cheers.
Even though the women took their respective seats, the audience members continued their applause for them.

All the hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, were surprised at the gesture before the 'EGOT' winner said, “You know what? Let us say this to you. Thank you for that, because sometimes this gig can feel like hell.”
“And sometimes you feel like people are just angry at you all the time,” the comedian stated, before adding, “And so, to get a welcome like this this morning, we really appreciate it.”

Her words received another round of applause from the audience.

“Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it's another Ellen situation,” another one posted.

Whoopi Goldberg is not thinking of leaving 'The View'
Whoopi Goldberg has been on ‘The View’ since 2007.
In 2024, she exclusively spoke with OK! Magazine during the red carpet at the 2024 Garden of Laughs comedy event at The Theater at MSG, where she was asked about her retirement plan.

But she replied, “I haven't really given it any thought.”
At the time, the 69-year-old also stated that she’s “on the board and I'm doing the opening remarks. So, I'm going home after that because I work at the crack of dawn.”
