MOUNT PLEASANT, SC: At her last speech before her home state's primary on Friday, February 23, GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley slammed Donald Trump, her opponent in 2024, and urged supporters to vote for her because, according to polls, she is the only one who can defeat Joe Biden.

Haley mentioned to a crowd in Mount Pleasant, alluding to Trump and Biden, "The best America can do is two candidates in their 80s? We need someone who can do eight years of hard work day and night, getting the job done for the American people. No drama, no vendettas."

Nikki Haley's camp calls it an 'Uphill Battle'

Notably, Haley is trailing Trump by 28 points in the Palmetto State, but according to her staff, she will go on until Super Tuesday regardless of the outcome on Saturday.

Haley campaign manager Betsy Ankney informed reporters, "As we look to the path ahead, we know that this is an uphill battle. We know that the road is difficult. We know that the math is challenging, but this has never just been about who can win a Republican primary — this battle is about who can win in November, defeat the Democrats and finally get our country back on track."

The Campaign rep added, "We have never gotten [into] those benchmarks. We won’t start now. Once again, she made very clear in her speech on Tuesday that we are marching on and that’s what we intend to do."

Haley's South Carolina supporters told The Post in the week before the primary that although they hope Haley stays in the race in case Trump is "locked up" or has a health issue, they generally don't have great expectations for her to win.

Rep Dean Phillips (D-Minn.), who is challenging Biden, stated on Friday that if "that's what it takes," he would be willing to run on an independent ticket with Haley as his vice presidential nominee.

He said, "I think it’s a conversation that Ambassador Haley and I should have if that’s what this comes down to."

Ankney dismissed the option saying, "Nikki Haley is a strong and proud Republican and that’s what we’re focused on winning the Republican nomination."

Internet trolls Nikki Haley for her statement

Many people on the internet took a jibe at Nikki Haley as she made her final pitch to the home crowd before the South Carolina primary saying, 'No drama, no vendettas.'

A user commented, "Don’t go away mad. Just go away" while one replied, "Why is she still running? She's going to lose her home state by double digits, it's going to be a wipeout. And Super Tuesday isn't going to be any better. So why is she still here?"

Another person mentioned, "And no chance. Trump will not only beat her in her hometown he will be the nominee and the 47th President of the United States" whereas a user also stated, "And says she's going on to Michigan. Where's the money coming from?"

Another person wrote, "Nikki is lying!"
