MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Kaitlan Collins has cast doubt on Donald Trump's willingness to face jail if convicted in his ongoing hush money criminal case and gag order violation.

Drawing from her experiences and insights into the former president's demeanor, the CNN reporter highlighted his aversion to even prolonged stays in luxury accommodations during foreign trips, suggesting that the idea of his embracing a prison cell is far-fetched.

Kaitlan Collins says the idea of Donald Trump wanting to go jail is 'ridiculous'

Speaking about Trump's claims of wanting to face jail if convicted in the criminal case, Collins said, "The idea that Donald Trump would actually want to go to jail is ridiculous."

"Anyone who knows him knows that he doesn’t even like to stay in a hotel when he goes on foreign trips, when he wouldn’t as president," the 32-year-old continued.

"It was a whole thing to actually get him to stay overnight in places," she said.

"So this idea that he actually does want to do this for the optics perspective, I mean, when you speak to his closest advisers and allies, they’ll say that’s completely far-fetched," Collins added.

Kaitlan Collins says Donald Trump is 'being careful'

Reflecting on Trump's intentions behind expressing willingness to be jailed, Collins said, "Do they think it would work to their advantage?"

"Maybe politically, but I do think Donald Trump heeding this is something that you never see Donald Trump do, which is actually which is actually words," she continued.

"And he keeps acknowledging that every time he goes into that courtroom, even if he is lying about what the gag order actually says, he can and cannot do, he is being careful," the reporter added.

Judge Juan Merchan threatened Donald Trump with jail time

After Judge Juan Merchan presiding over the hush money trial found Trump in contempt after ruling he violated the gag order for the tenth time on Monday, May 6, he threatened the former president with jail time.

“And frankly, you know what? Our Constitution is much more important than jail. It’s not even close. I’ll do that sacrifice any day," Trump said in response to the warning, reported OK Magazine.

Mary Trump says Donald Trump will not last a night in a jail cell

Trump's niece Mary Trump recently weighed in on the 77-year-old politician's ongoing hush money trial as she wrote in her Substack newsletter that "In the last hearing, the prosecution suggested that Donald was actually angling to go to jail."

"I find that hard to believe," the psychologist said, adding, "He may like to portray himself as a tough guy."

"But imagine him alone in a cell, cut off from the world, without his phone. He couldn't handle it for one night," she shared.

During her recent appearance on 'The Back Room with Andy Ostroy' podcast, Mary criticized Trump's claim that he is willing to face jail.

"You seriously think that guy, you know, Mr. Hair Product and Bronzer wants to be in a jail cell overnight?" she joked.

"Without any of his products and without his cellphone? Are you kidding? Imagine what he's going to look like in the morning?" said Mary.
