Kaitlan Collins left stunned by John Bolton's reaction to JD Vance's 'childless cat ladies' remark
WASHINGTON, DC: John Bolton, former President Donald Trump’s national security advisor, has reportedly shown his dislike for JD Vance’s “childless cat ladies” remark during Friday night, July 26, interview with CNN, leaving host Kaitlan Collins stunned.
Donald Trump's running mate commented in 2021, “It’s just a basic fact — you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children…”
JD Vance questioned ‘childless’ women leaders
“How does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?” Vance told Tucker Carlson at the time, which has now resurfaced.
Collins asked Bolton to share his views on it.
Ex-President Trump’s national security advisor said, as reported by MEDIAITE, “Well, [Vance is] also getting a lot of blowback on comments that he made before talking about the government being run by childless cat ladies and really going after people – essentially arguing that people who don’t have children don’t have as vested of an interest in the government.”
Anthony Scaramucci suggests JD Vance might get replaced as VP pick
The news anchor also questioned Bolton about Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci’s comment on Vance’s pick as Trump’s running mate.
He had reportedly suggested that Vance might get replaced before the presidential race.
“I mean, that’s what ‘The Apprentice’ is all about. Of course, I’ve had that experience with Donald Trump. I do think he could. It’s just a question of how many Scaramuccis JD is going to last. We got the shot clock on right now,” Scaramucci shared, as reported by the HuffPost.
John Bolton suggests Donald Trump is ‘stuck with’ JD Vance
John Bolton remarked to Collins, “I mean, I think he’s stuck with him now and I think these comments by Vance are really the 2024 counterpart of Hillary Clinton’s famous statement in the 2016 election where she called Trump’s supporters deplorables.”
“I mean if politicians can’t learn it’s one thing to attack your opponent. It’s another thing to attack your opponent supporters and that’s just not a way to win friends and influence people,” the 25th United States Ambassador to the United Nations stated.
He added, “I don’t think Vance learned the lesson that Hillary Clinton unfortunately for herself, learned in 2016. That’s going to hurt Trump as you get closer to the election.”
His response reportedly shocked Collins as she stated, “That’s about as damning of a comment that you can hear from a Republican – that something that someone said is equal to what Hillary Clinton said in 2016 about the basket of deplorables.”
Netizens slam JD Vance, call him ‘unqualified’
Meanwhile, people have reacted online to Bolton’s comments as a reader below the MEDIA ITE article wrote, “In hindsight, ‘Basket of Deplorables’ seems remarkably genteel.”
Another reader shared, “Harris served 13 years as DA and AG before 3 1/2 years in the Senate and, now, nearly 4 years as VP. JD Vance wrote a piece of fiction, briefly worked in venture capital & has been in the Senate 18 months. Vance is the unqualified and calculated sympathy hire.”
The third one noted, “Vance’s comments were flat-out stupid.”
“Well Hillary was correct about the deplorable comments. Vance is just a wannabe VP advocating for a real life Handmaid's Tale. That said I take Bolton's point and don't think he's wrong about it,” the fourth one stated.
The fifth one added, “No one has yet explained why Vance was selected in the first place. And I think he's going to hurt Trump a lot more than the conventional wisdom would suggest.”
