WASHINGTON, DC: Kamal Harris slammed President Donald Trump for striking Iran, saying he “dragged” the US into a war the “American people do not want.” She added, “Donald Trump promised to end wars rather than start them. It was a lie." Harris emphasized that she is against a “regime-change” war in Iran and said US troops are being put in harm’s way for the “sake of Trump’s war of choice.”

Trump said on Saturday, February 28, that the US bombing of Iran will continue “as long as needed” and claimed that the killing of the country’s supreme leader gives Iranians their “greatest chance” to take power.

Kamal Harris slams Trump's strike on Iran

On Sunday, March 1, Kamala Harris shared a detailed statement on X (formerly Twitter) criticizing the Trump administration’s recent strike on Iran.

She opened with the headline line: “Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want. Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice.” She continued, “Then last year, he said ‘we obliterated’ Iran's nuclear program. That, too, was a lie.”

Harris strongly opposed a “regime-change war” in Iran, arguing that Trump is leading the US into an unnecessary and dangerous conflict. She described the military action as a “dangerous and unnecessary gamble” that risks regional stability and the lives of American service members.

Harris also accused Trump of misleading the public by breaking his campaign promises to end wars and by claiming he had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program. While she stated that Iran poses a real threat and should not be allowed to get a nuclear weapon, she said the ongoing military strikes are not the right way to handle it.

US, Israel coordinate major strikes on Iran

The United States, together with Israel, carried out a coordinated military operation against Iran, with the strikes reportedly planned for months.

An official familiar with the operation, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AP that the attacks targeted Iran’s military installations, government symbols, and intelligence facilities. The official shared details that have not been publicly released.
