WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign released new merchandise opposing former President Donald Trump's infamous MAGA cap.

The Democratic campaign rolled out the first set of merch for the Harris-Tim Walz ticket, including a camouflage trucker hat with 'Harris Walz' written in orange letters.

The campaign site highlighted that buying the camo hat or any merchandise counts as a "donation to the Harris Victory Fund," with the hat priced at $40. Moreover, the merchandise is described as the "most iconic political hat in America," which is American and union-made. The website also features Harris-Walz t-shirts and coffee mugs.

The Democratic presumptive nominee, who entered the presidential race last month after President Joe Biden's exit, picked Minnesota Gov Walz as her running mate on Tuesday, August 6.

The Harris campaign hat introduced to rival Republican presidential nominee Trump's MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN cap looked similar to the merch items by singer-songwriter Chappell Roan.

Her cap, used for the promotion of 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess' album, included a camouflage pattern cap that read 'Midwest Princess' with orange lettering.

One of Roan's fans brought this to the singer's attention, which led her to respond to the merch on social media.

Sharing an X post that had the pictures of "Midwest Princess" and "Harris-Walz" hats, Roan asked, "is this real."

The hat was an instant sell-out, as per a Washington Post report that said the entire merch was purchased in half an hour.

Trump's MAGA hat gained popularity during his 2016 presidential bid, and ever since, it has been a prominent trademark of his politics and Make America Great Again agenda. At the time, CNN labeled the Republican's cap as a "potent symbol of racism" as a criticism of the ex-president's bigotry, according to The Mirror US.

Internet split over Harris-Walz hat merchandise

Debating over the Democratic campaign's new trucker cap, a group of netizens deemed no one would wear it. Another camp noted that it was better than MAGA caps.

"Good luck finding a single dude who'll wear that in public," a user wrote.

While another remarked, "This is gonna be our version of the red hat. Those maga folks are gonna be too embarrassed to wear camo and will never be properly disguised in the woods again hahahhahaha."

"This is extreme gaslighting," added a third user.

"'Merch just dropped'? Is she a 16 year old tiktoker? The commercialization of the presidential campaign as if this was the superbowl is pretty disgusting. Even our own president isn’t taking it seriously," read a fourth response.

"The branding coming out of this campaign is top tier," someone else said.

"It's fascinating how merchandise can encapsulate identity and culture. Chappell's 'Midwest Princess' hat is a beautiful representation of pride in one's roots," an individual chimed in.

"It’s similar enough. Kamala was saying she loves gen z and she’s doing a good job of that," another added.

"Nobody with more than 2 braincells would ever wear that in public," read one remark.
