Karoline Leavitt announces arrival of daughter 'Viviana', posts an adorable picture with newborn
WASHINGTON, DC: For the first time in months, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made headlines for something far removed from politics.
The Trump administration spokesperson revealed on Thursday, May 7, that she has welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Viviana, on May 1, sharing that both mother and daughter are healthy as the family begins a new chapter away from the intense pace of Washington.
On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love. 💕

Karoline Leavitt welcomes baby number 2
Leavitt announced that her daughter, who will go by “Vivi,” arrived on May 1.
Posting a photo of herself embracing the newborn in her arms on social media, she gave followers a rare glimpse into her personal life.
“She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister,” Leavitt wrote. “We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.”
The post marked one of Leavitt’s first public updates since stepping away from the White House for maternity leave.
At just 28, she has become one of the most visible figures in President Donald Trump’s administration, regularly taking on combative exchanges with reporters from the briefing room podium.
Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, are already parents to their son Nicholas, known as “Niko,” who was born in 2024.
Karoline Leavitt's second pregnancy
Though Leavitt had initially planned to begin leave in late April, Leavitt’s final days before childbirth turned unexpectedly dramatic.
She briefly returned to the public spotlight during the aftermath of the security incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, stepping in for an unscheduled media appearance before resuming leave ahead of her due date.
Leavitt’s second pregnancy unfolded while she remained one of the administration’s most active public messengers, making her one of the few press secretaries in modern White House history to serve throughout pregnancy.
She first revealed she was expecting a daughter late last year, calling the baby “the greatest Christmas gift” she and her husband could have asked for.
Throughout the pregnancy, Leavitt continued traveling, briefing reporters and defending administration policies during one of the most politically charged periods of Trump’s second term.
