WASHINGTON, DC: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hit back at former CNN host Jim Acosta on Friday, February 21, for calling her a "kid" who is a "bad liar" in an interview earlier this week, reported the Daily Beast.

Leavitt, 27, was at the Conservative Political Action Conference in conversation with President Donald Trump's former White House strategic communications director Mercedes Schlapp, when the topic of Acosta came up, providing her with the perfect platform to deliver a snarky comeback.

What did Karoline Leavitt say about Jim Acosta?

When Mercedes Schlapp brought up the topic of Jim Acosta's dismissal from the CNN network, Karoline Leavitt stated, "Since you brought up Jim Acosta: He’s been saying some not-so-nice things about me online, and I’ve resisted responding. But since you brought him up, I’d like to say: Jim, at least I have a job, Jim. OK? Just saying.”

Hearing her remarks, the audience broke into laughter.

In an interview with the 'MeidasTouch' podcast released on February 19, Wednesday, Acosta slammed Leavitt saying she was trying her best to join an 'All-Star team of liars' comprising Trump's press secretaries from his first term, Sean Spicer and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

"She might be on the bench right now, but if she keeps working hard, does her homework, she just might make it onto the team," he had quipped, adding that she should try out for the popular satire show, 'Saturday Night Live', as "the skit writes itself".

"Anybody has kids out there when your kid is telling you a tall tale and you’re just looking at them like, okay, Johnny, sure, yeah, I believe you. And you just walk away saying, what the hell that's kids, you know, not telling me the truth," the journalist said about Leavitt's performance.

He ended with a final four-word critique of the White House team, exclaiming: "They're such bad liars."

Leavitt delivered her first briefing from the White House as press secretary late last month. At 27, she is the youngest to ever serve in the role.

Meanwhile, Acosta, who had worked with CNN since 2007, exited the network last month. The move came after his show was moved from its usual time slot. Reports claimed Acosta was offered a midnight time slot just as Trump began his second term, per Los Angeles Times.
