WASHINGTON, DC: Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta slammed White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as a 'bad liar' during an interview on the MeidasTouch podcast that was released on Wednesday, February 19, reported the Daily Mail.

At the age of 27, Leavitt is the youngest person in the history of the United States to hold the position. However, she has found favor with President Donald Trump, 78, by being fiercely competitive with the press, adept at pushing his narrative, and dismissive of traditional media norms.

Since taking office on January 20, Leavitt has been unafraid to take on major media outlets disagreeing with Trump's policies.

She banned the Associated Press from the Oval Office and Air Force One indefinitely for refusing to comply with the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in their reports on February 14. According to Acosta, such moves should not "be tolerated" by the press.

According to the Daily Mail, Acosta appeared patronizing while speaking about Leavitt on the podcast as he painted her as a "bad liar."

He called out press secretaries from the first Trump administration, Sean Spicer and Sarah Huckabee Sanders as part of an ‘All-Star team of liars' that Leavitt was aspiring to join.

"She might be on the bench right now, but if she keeps working hard, does her homework, she just might make it onto the team," quipped Acosta.

He went on to suggest that Leavitt should try out for the popular satire show, 'Saturday Night Live', as "the skit writes itself" since "it's a sad and sorry state of affairs."

In his comparison of Leavitt with Trump's previous press secretaries, Acosta likened her to a child, saying, "Anybody has kids out there when your kid is telling you a tall tale and you’re just looking at them like, okay, Johnny, sure, yeah, I believe you. And you just walk away saying, what the hell that's kids, you know, not telling me the truth."
