Karoline Leavitt mocked for saying Americans 'should be grateful' to officials involved in war plans leak

WASHINGTON, DC: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt apparently wants Americans to be "grateful" to top security and defense officials who were involved in a major national security data breach, Mediaite reported on Wednesday, March 26.
Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, published a report on Monday detailing how he was inadvertently added to a group chat on the messaging app Signal, where top officials of the federal administration, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance, discussed imminent war plans, such as bombing Houthi targets in Yemen.
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz later took responsibility for the inclusion of the journalist in the group chat, explaining that another contact was supposed to be added instead of Goldberg.

Karoline Leavitt's take on the war plans leak
Appearing on 'Jesse Watters Primetime' on Fox News on Tuesday night, Karoline Leavitt claimed that the officials in charge of national security and defense within the Trump administration were very capable and deserved the gratitude of their fellow countrymen.
Watters asked Leavitt if the national security team continues to enjoy the confidence of President Donald Trump, to which she replied, "President Trump absolutely has the full confidence in his national security team, Jesse. That includes our great national security adviser, Mike Waltz, and Secretary Pete Hegseth."

"And the American people should be grateful to these individuals, and especially to President Trump, for putting together such a competent and highly qualified team who are killing terrorists that the Biden administration allowed to run wild in the Middle East. And that is the real story here," the 27-year-old added.
Leavitt went on to criticize former President Joe Biden's administration for their policies, saying, "We had Houthi terrorists firing at American Naval ships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The Biden administration removed the foreign terrorist designation from this radical terrorist group, allowed them to take these actions, put American lives at risk, shut down the freedom of navigation in the seas."

"And because of the effort of my colleagues and President Trump, we are now killing these terrorists. We have redesignated them as a foreign terrorist organization, and Americans and the world are safer because of it," Leavitt noted.
