WASHINGTON, DC: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats on Monday, July 7, for trying to blame President Donald Trump for the devastating Texas floods that have killed at least 100.

During her briefing on Monday, Leavitt especially aimed at Schumer, accusing him of spreading "falsehoods." She also gave a timeline of warnings issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), days and hours before the floods caused massive destruction.

The White House press secretary said on Monday, "We have seen many falsehoods pushed by Democrats such as Senator Chuck Schumer and some members of the media. Blaming President Trump for these floods is a depraved lie, and it serves no purpose during this time of national mourning."

Leavitt added, "Here are the facts. In the lead-up to this tragic national disaster, the National Weather Service did its job. Despite unprecedented rainfall, the NWS executed timely and precise forecasts and warnings."

Moreover, she highlighted that a flood watch and press briefings were conducted by the NWS in the region on July 3.

"Flash flood warnings were also issued on the night of July 3rd and the morning of July 4th, giving preliminary lead time of more than three hours before flash flood conditions occurred," Leavitt mentioned.

Schumer had demanded an investigation into several vacancies within NWS in Texas related to warning coordination.

"These are the experts responsible for modeling storm impacts, monitoring rising water levels, issuing flood warnings, and coordinating directly with local emergency managers about when to warn the public and issue evacuation orders," the 74-year-old had said.

Karoline Leavitt confirms Donald Trump will visit Texas later this week

Karoline Leavitt also announced that Donald Trump would be visiting Texas later this week. However, she did not offer specific details.

The White House press secretary said, "May God bless the great people of Texas, especially the parents who have lost their children. President Trump loves you. We are praying for you, and he will be traveling to see you later this week."

Meteorologists stated that the Texas flooding was driven by a slow-moving storm system that dumped several inches of rain within hours. This overwhelmed local waterways and caught many off guard despite flash flood warnings.

Karoline Leavitt calls Texas floods an 'act of God'

Karoline Leavitt, on Monday, made a controversial statement, attributing the devastating Texas floods to an "act of God".

A reporter asked Leavitt during the briefing, "I know there has been some concern over the timing of the alerts. Knowing that they did go out, with the warnings coming out in the wee hours, so while many people were likely sleeping, can you share, just detail to us, what you know about why those warnings were sent while people were likely sleeping, and then what the administration's doing to ensure that these alerts come out sooner?"

Leavitt replied, "Well, the alerts imminently were sent out before the flood when people were sleeping because the flood hit in the very early hours of the morning. So, people were sleeping in the middle of the night when this flood came."

"That was an act of God, it's not the administration's fault that the flood hit when it did," she continued. "But there were early and consistent warnings, and, again, the National Weather Service did its job," she added.

Internet slams Chuck Schumer and other Democrats for blaming Donald Trump for Texas floods

Several internet users slammed Chuck Schumer and other Democrats who blamed Donald Trump for the devastating flash floods that ravaged through Texas over the Fourth of July weekend.

An X user wrote, "Chuck just keeps lowering the bar. It’s OK, they’re almost gone," while another added, "Keep calling them out."

A person also stated, "Dems saw a flood and still tried to blame climate change, capitalism, and probably columbus, meanwhile half their donors just bought waterfront property on purpose," whereas someone else mentioned, "Democrats are ghouls."

One more wrote, "The Dems have sunk to new lows as they blame the president for God made disasters. Fortunately those who know the truth are speaking out in rebuttal of these false accusations. If Anything perhaps the Dems are to blame with their unholy behaviors."

"The NWS had been calling for heavy rains as far back as Tuesday, July 2. So to say that this administration was at fault, is all political theater," another tweet read.
