Charlamagne Tha God roasts Chuck Schumer for backing spending bill: 'Donkey of the day'

WASHINGTON, DC: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer faced harsh criticism after breaking Democratic Party ranks to support a Republican-backed spending bill.
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God singled him out, labeling him the "Donkey of the day" and blasting Democrats for what he called a lack of action, as per Daily Beast.
Charlamagne Tha God calls Democrats 'the party of inaction'
The Senate passed the bill in a 54-46 vote, preventing a government shutdown despite strong Democratic opposition.
President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on Saturday, March 15, the White House confirmed, as per the Guardian.

"That’s the difference between Democrats and Republicans,” Charlamagne said on 'Breakfast Club.'
“One party is about inaction, and one party is about all action—even if that action is harmful to the country," he said.
Charlamagne criticized Schumer and other Democratic leaders for their approach to governance.
He argued that Democrats fail to take decisive action, which ultimately weakens their position against Republicans.
The decision to back the bill angered Democratic activists, who accused Schumer of giving up the party’s leverage against Trump and his billionaire ally, Elon Musk.

Schumer claimed the funding lapse would have allowed Musk’s so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) to take advantage of the situation for further cuts.
"I think he did the right thing,” Trump said on Friday, March 14.
Jeff Merkley slams Chuck Schumer and other Democrats for giving 'lunch money' to Donald Trump
Chuck Schumer’s shift came after he initially pushed for a 30-day extension to negotiate a bipartisan compromise.

Schumer was joined by eight other Democrats and one independent who helped avoid a government shutdown, including Senator John Fetterman, Democrat of Pennsylvania.
Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky was the only GOP senator to vote against it.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Chuck Schumer's move 'a deep sense of outrage and betrayal'
Democrats were particularly critical of Chuck Schumer’s move, with New York Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez describing the decision as a “huge slap in the face.”
“There is a deep sense of outrage and betrayal,” said Ocasio-Cortez following Schumer’s decision. “And this is not just about progressive Democrats. This is across the board—the entire party," she added.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who opposed the bill, declined to comment on Schumer’s choice, according to The Hill.
Charlamagne called for leadership changes within the Democratic Party, saying, “It’s time for the Chuck Schumers of the world, the Hakeem Jeffries’s, they should all step down.”
He argued that the party’s struggles stem from weak leadership, stating, “In order to change the messaging, you got to change the people in the party.”
Schumer’s decision is likely to fuel ongoing tensions within the Democratic caucus, raising concerns about his leadership ahead of future negotiations, as per Time.
