WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent Fox News interview, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fiercely defended President Donald Trump’s comments regarding a potential third term.

During a press briefing at Mar-a-Lago, Trump stated that people "loved the job" they were doing and expressed hope that he would run for office again.

Trump had caused a stir during a Mar-a-Lago press conference, suggesting that while his focus remains on his current term, the possibility of another run could be on the cards. Leavitt doubled down on his remarks, arguing that the media was blowing his words out of proportion.

“It's funny to me that journalists ask the president this question,” Leavitt said. “He gives an honest and candid answer and then they spiral about his answer. They asked him, and you heard him. And he's right! People love the job this president is doing.”

Leavitt’s defense came in response to a query from Fox News' John Roberts, who reminded viewers of the 22nd Amendment, passed after Roosevelt's four terms in office, which limits presidents to two terms.

It was initially championed by Republicans, who argued that such a situation should never occur again.

“It took just over three years to pass and ratify that amendment,” he noted. He also remarked, “So if the president hopes to change it, it would seem to me time is running out already.”

The press secretary also took the opportunity to promote Trump’s accomplishments during his presidency.

“We have completely secured our southern border. We have launched a very effective mass deportation campaign,” she noted. “So it’s been a very successful couple of months, and the president will continue to forge ahead to deliver on all of the promises he made to the American people on the campaign trail.”

Leavitt’s statements come in the wake of a controversial incident known as “Signalgate". Last week, The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeff Goldberg, was accidentally included in a Signal chat with top US officials, which leaked sensitive military details.

During a tense press briefing, Leavitt confronted journalists over questions related to the breach, claiming the story was part of a larger media plot.

“There's arguably no one in the media who loves manufacturing and pushing hoaxes more than Jeffrey Goldberg,” she asserted.

Karoline Leavitt's comments accusing the media of twisting Donald Trump’s remarks about a potential third term have sparked a heated debate online.

One user wrote, “Propaganda Barbie desperately trying to blame the media for her boss' unconstitutional desire to run for a 3rd term? This tracks. She's a joke.”

Another shared, “Karoline is a spokesperson for DJT, White House Press Secretary. I personally don't expect to hear truthful news from her or she'd be out of a job.”

One person wrote, “Karoline Leavitt blaming the media for Trump’s own words is peak political gaslighting. When a spokesperson tries to rewrite reality in real-time, it’s not just dishonest, it’s insulting to the intelligence of the public. Trump floated a third term. He said it. It’s on video. Blaming the press for quoting him verbatim is a cowardly deflection, not a defense. If this is the best they can offer, the campaign is running on fumes.”

Others took jabs at her persona and credibility, with one user remarking, “Trump women have never been known for their IQ points,” and another adding, “There has never been a more shameless liar as press secretary. Her only function is gaslighting.”

One commenter wrote, “She gives a whole new meaning to dumb blonde!”
