Katie Zacharia reveals trolls turned her life upside down after 5-day White House stint
WASHINGTON,DC: Katie Zacharia has spoken about the personal fallout from her brief White House appointment, telling the California Post on Monday, October 26, that online ridicule followed her beyond Washington and brought unwanted visitors to her Southern California neighborhood.
In the interview, she described how she dealt with public mockery while thinking about her children and explained why she believed enduring the experience was worthwhile if they learned something from watching her face it.

Katie says trolls followed her home
Zacharia said the backlash to her first and only appearance at the White House press briefing podium did not remain confined to the internet.
After clips of her October 13 appearance went viral and attracted widespread mockery, she said people began showing up in her Southern California neighborhood.
She described them as stalkers and onlookers, adding that neighbors intervened and chased them away.
Zacharia became an online meme within days of taking on the role. She said the ridicule came not only from her political opponents but also from people she had expected to stand by her.
However, Zacharia said she wanted her children to see how she responded when the public turned against her, rather than watch her retreat because she was being mocked.
“What they witnessed was a mother standing strong while she’s an international meme, or when everyone’s making fun of her, including people who we thought would be on our side,” she said.
She said her priority was to show her children that a person's values should not change simply because others are hostile or critical.
Reflecting on the experience, Zacharia said: “What I will mark is that maintaining your character, no matter the circumstances, for me, is what defined the entire process. That to tell my kids: be loyal, be faithful, and be true to who you are, even when the whole world turns against you.”

Katie denies receiving special favors from Trump
Zacharia dismissed speculation that personal connections or special favors had played a part in her appointment, insisting that Trump had personally chosen her for the position.
She attributed the opportunity to the work she had put into building her presence as a conservative commentator.
Her time at the White House came to a sudden close on October 16, just five days after she assumed the role.
The circumstances surrounding her final evening made the experience even harder, as the night followed her eldest son’s birthday celebrations and included a dinner with Vice President JD Vance.
Speaking to the California Post, she acknowledged how difficult that evening had been.
Thank you, President Trump, for hosting my family and me in the Oval Office and for the generous gifts you gave my children on my son’s birthday. It was an unforgettable honor. https://t.co/Ng3ty8vLpu

Zacharia also pushed back against criticism of her performance at the press briefing, arguing that she had been given little time to prepare for the high-pressure appearance.
She claimed that she was handed “only a few hours of actual briefing material” on the morning she was due to address reporters.
She said the backlash prompted several former White House press secretaries to contact her.
Kayleigh McEnany, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Ari Fleischer and Sean Spicer were among those who reached out, Zacharia said they sympathized with her account of having too little time to prepare.
Recounting the conversation that followed her departure, Zacharia said Trump told her, “You know, there are other ways to make a living.”
She has since suggested that she has new career developments to announce soon.
Although her time as press secretary has ended, Zacharia says her support for Trump has not wavered and that she intends to continue championing his policies from outside the White House.
