Kayla Rincon-Miller: Teen girl fatally shot in chest while walking to McDonald's with friends after movie

CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA: The tragic death of 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller, a girl from Cape Coral, happened while she was walking with two friends from the movie theater to a nearby McDonald's, as reported by News Press.
This heartbreaking incident has plunged her family and friends into grief. Interestingly, the distance of the walk is less than a mile, typically requiring between 10 to 15 minutes.
The street where the shooting occurred, which runs parallel to Del Prado Boulevard South, lacks street lights, except for those illuminating nearby homes. The vehicle used by the unidentified suspects remains unknown.

Chief Anthony Sizemore's recent Facebook post offers details about a shooting incident involving teenage girls.
On March 17, 2024, around 9:39 PM, Cape Coral Police Officers responded to a shooting report at the 2000 block of SE 16th Pl.
According to the anonymous caller, three underage females were walking in the vicinity when one of them was shot in the chest.
Subsequently, the shooter's vehicle fled southbound on SE 16th Pl.
Officers initiated life-saving measures for the victim, identified as Kayla Rincon-Miller until EMS arrived.
Despite efforts, Rincon-Miller tragically succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
The females informed detectives that they had just finished watching a movie at the Coralwood 10 and were on their way to McDonald’s at 1715 Del Prado Blvd S.
One of the females recounted that a vehicle approached them, blinding them with its lights before the suspect(s) emerged and attempted a robbery.
During the incident, shots were fired, resulting in one of the females being struck in the chest. All three females maintained that they were unfamiliar with the shooter's identity.
Detectives are actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence.

Kayla Rincon-Miller's cousin expressed deep sorrow for the dead teen
Following the passing of Kayla Rincon-Miller, her cousin Sophia Ricketts expressed profound sorrow, referring to Kayla as "Baby" and "princess," and reminiscing about their shared upbringing, as per Fox4now.
Ricketts reminisced about babysitting Rincon-Miller as a family tradition, stating, "Just her smile. If you were in a bad mood, you'd just look at her, and she would smile at you, putting you back in a good mood."
Ricketts expressed on GoFundMe, "Her passing has left our family devastated, mourning the loss of this beautiful soul."
She added, "We are humbly reaching out for donations of any amount to assist with medical and funeral expenses, providing some solace to her grieving parents during this unimaginably difficult time."
