LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA: While a 19-year-old teen, accused of shooting a man dead at a residence in Leesburg, Florida, surrendered on Friday, a 23-year-old woman, who was seemingly present at the scene of the crime, was charged with evidence tampering and resisting officers.
The accused, Destiny Kayla Pendleton, allegedly attempted to hide the gun shell casings inside her body. Police also claim that she concealed the gun from the site of the fatal shooting.
'Upon seeing the officers Destiny Kayla Pendleton fled'
According to Law&Crime, police officials responded to a call about a shooting in a residence in Leesburg. On arriving at the scene, the officials found a man, later identified as Lekendre Hall, “covered in blood and motionless,” and Pendleton standing next to his body.
According to police records, cops "responded to 1906 W. Main St, Leesburg EL 3a1 48 in reference to a shooting. Through the on scene investigation, probable cause was established for the arrest of Destiny Kayla Pendleton, hereby known as the defendant, for the offenses of: Resisting officers without violence.”
Police records state that upon seeing the officers, Pendleton fled, leading them on a chase. She ran to the back of the house, climbed a fence into a neighbor's yard, and then jumped off, eventually being detained without incident.
During a pat-down, officers noticed "obstructions in her left front pocket resembling a spent shell casing." Initially, there were three or four shell casings discernible, allegedly taken from the initial crime scene.
However, when an arresting officer attempted to retrieve them from Pendleton's pocket, they had disappeared. When questioned about their whereabouts, Pendleton claimed ignorance, according to the affidavit.
Significantly, shortly after that exchange, the police, assisted by a female officer, discovered three of the casings inside Pendleton's front private area, as indicated in the records.
The statement notes, "A short, time later the defendant retrieved 3 spent shell casings from her front, private area, where she had taken them out of her front left pocket and placed them in that private area."
