LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Khloe Kardashian has responded to criticism of the AI-generated opening sequence of her family's reality series, ‘The Kardashians.’ The season eight premiere featured artificial intelligence versions of the Kardashian-Jenner family in a sequence that explored whether AI could replace the real family.

'The Good American' founder addressed the backlash on Instagram on October 8, urging viewers to watch the entire sequence before commenting. She said she found it frustrating when people criticized the intro after watching only its first few seconds.

Khloe's response followed criticism of the family's decision to use AI-generated versions of themselves in a sequence that ended with the real Kardashian-Jenner family confronting their digital counterparts.

The intro presented artificial intelligence as a possible alternative to filming the family's reality show, before the real family pushed back against the idea that technology could replace them.

What happened in 'The Kardashians' AI-generated intro?

The season eight premiere opened with AI-generated versions of Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner appearing in different locations around the world.

Kris was shown lounging on a yacht in the South of France, while Kourtney enjoyed matcha with her husband, Travis Barker, in Japan. Khloe was cruising on an African safari, Kendall and Kylie attended a party in Versailles, and Kim was skiing at a Swiss ski chalet.

After Kim received a message from her mother asking her to return home for the premiere, the AI family reunited in Calabasas. The digital versions then began experiencing unusual changes to their appearances. Kourtney's face turned into a thumb with a red nail, while Kylie grew a tail.

The real Kardashian-Jenner family then confronted their AI counterparts. The AI version of Kris suggested that using artificial intelligence would make filming easier by eliminating scheduling conflicts and the need for glam. She also pointed out that the digital versions could cry on cue without ruining their makeup.

The real Kris rejected the suggestion that technology could replace her family. Kim also emphasized that the family did not need artificial intelligence because its real-life interactions were enough. Khloe then decided it was time to end the encounter with their digital counterparts.

She pressed a kill switch to eliminate the AI versions, and Kourtney concluded the sequence by reinforcing the idea that artificial intelligence could not replace the family.

Fans share mixed reactions to 'The Kardashians' AI intro

The AI-generated opening prompted mixed reactions from viewers. Some expressed confusion about the sequence, while others questioned why the family had used AI to communicate its message when it could have made the same point another way.

Other viewers responded positively, with some saying their initial disappointment gave way to appreciation after they watched the full sequence and understood its intended message.

Khloe's response focused on viewers judging the introduction before watching it in its entirety, while the reactions highlighted differing opinions about the family's use of artificial intelligence in the season premiere.
