Kid Rock recalls being shown 'Monica Lewinsky Room' by Donald Trump
Recently, during a conversation with Tucker Carlson, Kid Rock recounted the unusual and hilarious moment when Trump gave him a personal tour of the White House.
Among the various rooms and historic sites, it was a room with a controversial past that caught the rocker's attention.
Rock, who has performed at numerous political events in support of Trump, described the experience as both surreal and humorous, recalling the moment Trump referred to the room by its now-infamous name.
Rock's first dinner at the White House alongside political figures like Sarah Palin was far from ordinary. He had already become somewhat familiar with Trump, and on that night, he got an insider's look at the history-laden residence.
The visit left a lasting impression on him, especially when Trump invited him on an impromptu tour.
Recounting the story to Carlson, Rock said: "One of the first times at the White House having dinner with Sarah Palin, we go into the Oval Office to meet him, and he’s just wide open… And then he goes, ‘Rock, come here.’ And we walked down to this other room left of the Oval Office. He goes, ‘You know what this room is?’ ‘No sir.’ He’s like, ‘This is the Monica Lewinsky room.' Literally, I felt like I was in Stepbrothers. I’m like, did we just become best friends?"
Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky's scandal shook nation in 1990s
Trump’s casual reference to the room, where former president Bill Clinton engaged in an affair with Monica Lewinsky, immediately struck Rock as funny.
The rocker, clearly amused by the moment, called for the other guests to join him in the room. He described how they gathered, unaware of the significance of the space, and how Trump then revealed the room’s nickname: "I’m like, ‘Sir?’ And he’s like, ‘This is the Monica Lewinsky room.'"
The room Trump showed Rock is infamous for its association with the scandal between Clinton and Lewinsky, an affair that shook the nation in the 1990s.
The scandal eventually led to Clinton’s impeachment after he was found to have lied under oath about his relationship with Lewinsky.
The room, previously just another part of the White House, has since become symbolic of that turbulent period in American history.
During his conversation with Carlson, Rock reflected on how his career has provided him with the chance to meet every living president at some point.
He noted that despite these opportunities, Trump stood out to him for his unique, down-to-earth nature.
