Kim, who shares North with ex-husband Kanye West and is also mother to Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, posted a collection of recent photos alongside a throwback image from her infancy and a mother-daughter selfie.
In her birthday message, the SKIMS founder wrote, "Happy Birthday my Northiiiiiieeeeeeeee (Uzi voice!!!) I can't believe you are officially a teenager!!!!! There's no one like you my baby girl! I love being your mom and watching you grow. I love you to the aliens galaxies you would speak of as a kid and beyond."
Her grandmother, Kris, also celebrated the occasion by sharing photographs spanning different moments of North’s life with family members. She described her North as “beautiful, brilliant, creative, funny, and smart,” while expressing pride in watching her discover her own passions and path.
Kris wrote, “Happy Birthday my amazing North! You are beautiful, brilliant, creative, funny, and smart, and you have such a love for life and everything it has to offer,” and continued, “I love watching you grow, and seeing you find your own path and passions has been such a joy, and I am so proud of the incredible young lady you are.
"Keep dreaming big and shining bright… I am so proud of you!! We all love you so much!! Lovey xo northwest,” the 70-year-old added.
The birthday celebrations followed a special weekend for her, who began marking the occasion with a solo appearance at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash 2026 music festival in Illinois.
North West expands her music career and creative ventures
On Friday, North performed solo at the Summer Smash festival for the first time. Kim documented the event on Instagram Stories, sharing backstage passes featuring her face and the words “Stage 3 … North West.”
She also reposted clips of her performing before enthusiastic crowds. For the performance, North wore an all-black Balenciaga outfit paired with spiky jewelry, black sneaker boots, and oversized black sunglasses. Kanye also showed support by reposting footage of her performing 'TALKING,' their 2024 collaboration from his album 'Vultures 1,' as fans joined in chanting the lyrics.
The festival appearance came shortly after the release of her debut EP, 'N0rth4Evr,' on May 1. Earlier in the year, Kim filed three trademark applications dated January 14 for the company name “NOR11.” The applications covered clothing, footwear, loungewear, hats, watches, jewelry, handbags, and cosmetics cases, suggesting the filings were made on behalf of the young rapper.
In January, she also shared a clip of the song 'Piercing on My Hand (Ye Version)' on Instagram Stories. The track appeared to address public reaction to her dermal piercings, with her rapping, “Piercing on my hand, the other holding bands. No friends, just filter, you wouldn’t understand.”
Discussion around her piercings began after she was seen with a dermal piercing in Rome in September. While some modifications have been temporary, North’s distinctive sense of self-expression has remained consistent.
Speaking on Khloe Kardashian’s podcast 'Khloe in Wonder Land' on January 21, Kim reflected on her daughter’s personality, stating, “She knew what she wanted since the moment she was born" adding, “She was getting born to the song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ Kourtney and I talk about this all the time.”
